Yes you can ship from your home first class, parcel select, or priority. However you need to purchase your appropriate shipping labels online, then ship it from your mailbox. You can purchase your label by selling your item on eBay or you can purchase a label on PayPal, also for an item sold. You will need the measurements of your envelope or box and the weight so get yourself a small scale online for $20. Best of luck to you....

You can print labels and ship from home, even if you don't sell anything on ebay or elsewhere.
Go to USPS.com and it's all there. You can pay for the postage with a credit card or PayPal.
You'd need a computer, a printer, packing materials and you're all set!
The "thing" is... if you do sell something on ebay and want to print a label here, using ebay shipping instead of USPS.com you'll get a nice discount. They are the same services, but discounted for ebay sellers. Good luck.

try free pirateship.com to print your postage labels, more friendly to use than ebay or USPS

As noted in the other post, if you purchase postage through usps.com you pay the retail price. Also IIRC you can only purchase Priority Mail postage.
You can purchase postage labels through PayPal for all the same services that are available for eBay labels, and pay the same online prices that you'd pay for eBay labels (except for the extra 3% discount that Top Rated Sellers get off of the rate for Priority Mail).

I strongly discourage leaving parcels in your mailbox for pickup unless it is the type that is lockable. In case you've noticed, people in desperate situations have taken desperate measures and parcel theft is not a new thing.
If you are unable to leave the home, a safer option would be to schedule a pickup (via online), however the problem with that is that they do not accept first class non-commercial for this, so you would need to upgrade to priority.
