I am planning on on listing a gold item with a mininum auction bid of $2500.
I normally send via the post office first class and used shipsaver insurance for higher priced items.
I just wrote to them to ask if they have a maximum insurance amount, but have not yet had a response.
I also put in the listing (not listed yet) that only buyers with lots of good feedback can buy.
Ebay has an offer of a $10 maximum fee that is good through tonight, so I wanted to take advantage of that.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to ship with insurance (will do signature confirmation for sure).
Thanks.

Forgot to mention that I I only sell in the U.S.A.
Also, the other issue is I don't want to end up being charged $250 fee if a buyer with no feedback buys and I don't ship to them.

Not sure what their feedback has to do with anything. I have had many zero feedback buyers sign up for Ebay SPECIFICALLY to buy what I was selling and most went on to be long time repeat buyers. My biggest worry would be those folks who try to do shady stuff in violation of Ebay rules (that includes you-the rules dont protect you if you dont follow them!) You might try cash on delivery or definitely overnight with signature confirmation.

well learn the procedure for UPI cases...BEFORE YOU SELL IT..then you'll know that you get fees back if and when it happens and you follow the procedures for UPI case.
site map at bottom of page will get you to topics..read up
as far as shipping ANYTHING ...you can insure it..but that can't and won't make is 100% safe form damage, scammer thief, etc.. I believe you must use signiture for pick up too....but very expensive items are exactly what a scammer/thief looks for...
"localpick up" only is best and cash in hand...is really only "safe" way.
site map may also have a topic for expensive items/shipping...and or the usps site...read up and understand BEFORE listing and selling...

Best method is Registered Mail for an item of that expense. Buyers will have a difficult time claiming any postal problems in delivery with this gem of a shipping method as the shipment is out in a special bag and has security checks along the way to it's destination. They have to sign for this. You can also restrict the delivery to authorized recipent, Adult only. Many sell jewelery item over a few grand on the internet but, they also sell in high volume to offset even ONE scamming buyer who may make a false claim that you sent them a rock instead of the jewelery. In this environment, Ebay will most likely believe the buyer and you will be out a few grand and your item if this happens. Best to you in however you want to do this, and know the risks.

We know jewelers in our area who would like to sell on the internet with very high priced diamond engagement rings. After they factored in the 180 day Pay Pal return policy for any reason, and the scammers on the internet they pretty much decided it was not worth the risk. Not so, for many others , but that is your perogative.

USPS Priority mail, or Express is my personal choice for higher dollar items, with Sig Confirmation of course. Registered mail is very safe, but is slow, and USPS can even screw that up. (Had a $4000 diamond sent to GIA, and they sent it back Registered mail. My regular usps driver had the day off so her replacement was nice enough to sign for me and toss the package in my mail box... Not Happy). As for only allowing people with "Lots of good feedback" purchase, you're shooting yourself in the foot there. You are just as likely to run into a scammer with 0 feedback as you are 500. Lots of people sign up for ebay just to buy an item, and close the account afterward. If a 0 feedback buyer wins, and you cancel, you will recieve a very nasty defect, and you won't get your FVF back. As for insurance, either ship cover or USPS goes that high, pretty sure it's USPS.

USPS Registered mail goes higher, much higher.private third party may go to 1500 these days,UPS could be higher.
Registered mail is pretty safe as they are kept in secure part of the warehouse with other financial instruments and have secuity guard guarding that part of the warehouse.
Nothing is 100% safe, whether the driver or the delivery man can be sloppy, nothing you can do.but it is signed for every step of the way so it could be traced.
gold is good to steal, nothing can protect you from INAD and they return a piece of rock,if you have low feedback,it is a magnet for scammer and your money may be withheld longer by Ebay or Paypal.
but then no risk no reward.
OH,if they do return the item, make sure you ask them to insure the item as well
