Hello ebayers
I am a new seller here.
I sold three zippo lighters on ebay, everything fine until I tried to dispatch them.
When it was going through the scanning process they were returned to me from the post security.
I tried again and the same thing happened.
The first I sold was to dispatch in Canada second in the UK and the third one in the USA
Does anybody had the same problem and if I can solve it?
Otherwise I am obligated to cancel the transactions 😞
Thanks in advance 🙂

Speaking strictly for the United States, shipping lighters requires prior approval from the United States Postal Service, and they can be shipped only within the contiguous United States.
You'll obviously need to research the shipping requirements for your own country.

It's unlikely that anyone here can advise you on the practices of the Albanian postal system. Have you contacted someone in post security?

I only know about the UK.
Lighters are not allowed in the mail, domestic, and international.

I believe that is only if you are shipping something like pre-filled butane lighters, not old or brand new Zippo lighters that contain no fluid. There are thousands of Zippo lighters shipped every day.

Then perhaps you'd like to explain to the OP why s/he was unable to ship the lighters.

Since the OP is in Albania, I don't know their postal restrictions. But I've shipped hundreds of old Zippos, no problems.

Hello everyone.
Thanks a lot for your responses.
I was thinking the same, that so many zippo lighters are sold over the internet.
So I asked a seller that is from UK and she kindly responded to me.
The thing she does is to remove the flint and also write on the description that there is no
fluid inside and hopefully they pass it through security.
So again it depends from the person that will be on the checking point on the scanner.
I was thinking to remove the flint also the cotton that is inside and write on the description
that the lighter is empty without flint or any cotton to keep fluid and maybe they pass it.
I tried three times to pass a lighter and all three is returned back to me.
First time I wrote on the description an old zippo lighter...declined
second time the same zippo lighter, small metallic box....declined
third time, yesterday ,some other zippo, small metallic box for collection.....declined again.
I send messages to the post office they tell me is not allowed.
I told them how is possible that other countries does ship zippo lighters...they did not respond to me.
I will give it a try again next time,if the buyer accept to remove the flint and the cotton and hopefully
it will pass the scanner!
Thanks again!
Happy selling everyone!

So you're saying that if I am about to send a zippo lighter in the US I should first contact USPS or it is
okay if the lighter passes my post?
I think if an item passes the post where the person is than automatically goes on the destination!!

Yes of course I did.
THey say it is not allowed but I have send two old lighters with the Albanian Post in China
and there was no problem at all.
I told them this thing they did not answer.
I guess maybe the person that was on the scanner that day was lazy to check every package, in my benefit
lol

In the United States you can ship lighters that do not have Contain fuel so if you're shipping lighters that lighters that are empty without fuel and other words they're unable to be lit then you can ship them with no problem

Same thing w/ empty liquor bottles...

The key part is the description, "unfilled lighter with no flint/fuel"
