So a buyer just open a return request and I got this message from ebay. (Your funds are on hold until this request is resolved ). I got this message and then have the funds for that order put on hold despite having set a rule in return preferences to approve automatically: "Return of Reasonable Expectations". Despite having store-wide 30 days return policy; Even on items I claim not to accept returns. Despite refunding all returns sent to me within the 48hr of delivery. I cannot understand what would make ebay do this. I use Manage Payment and at any given time, I probably have more money on hold with ebay than the value of returns that buyers have opened with me. Can someone please shed some light on this. Is this new ebay policy?

@jamuss_outlet Wow, THAT sounds like a serious glitch and with the Managed Payment angle where eBay is controlling YOUR money ... that is very, very disappointing to hear. From your post, for returns it sounds like you have everything set up to just let them happen, thus "enhancing the Buying experience" which is an eBay credo ... I would call immediately and complain ... loudly.
On a side note, you should discontinue using the "No returns accepted" setting ... eBay has a tool for Buyers to get around that and to be honest, I have no clue why eBay still has that setting on the Listing form ... other then to give Sellers a false sense of security that they can force a Buyer to keep a sold item and eat the cost of the purchase.

I think the message is just telling you that the amount of the refund will be held from any 'pending payments' due you. (It won't be sent to your bank account so as to be ready to refund the buyer.)
If you had no 'pending payments', you'd be billed on your next invoice for the refund amount. In that case, the message would read differently.

If that were the case, then this is a first. It never happened in this way. I issue refunds before the funds are taken. Funds never go on hold for any of my returns prior to this.
How many returns have you had? What is your Seller Standards Status? If you 're having lots of cases opened or if your status is below standard, eBay will start holding funds.
