Hi all,
I think my postage scale was a bit off and showing items as being lighter than they actually were (approx. 6-8 oz). I didn't catch it until I already shipped some things. I shipped with USPS. When I check the USPS tracking, would it show if postage is due?
Also, when postage is due, does it always charge the buyer? I read one thread where someone seemed to suggest that it would automatically charge my PayPal account the correct postage amount if I underpaid with the incorrect postage. Is that correct?
Just want to get in front of this before I have an angry customer(s)!
Thanks!

A couple of years ago USPS installed new equipment in their sorting centers which checks the weight and dimensions of packages. If a package with a prepaid label is underpaid (or overpaid) then the postage due will be charged to the sender's online account (or overage will be credited).

The postage cost for 8 ounces is the same as for 6 ounces, so probably some of your packages won't have postage due anyway. Likewise, if you were referring to packages being 6 or 8 ounces heavier than what you paid for, that will only affect postage cost if it bumps the package up into the next full-pound price bracket. For instance, a package that weighs 2 pounds 15 ounces costs the same postage as one that weighs 2 pound 1 ounce.

I've never had an item arrive at the buyer's marked "Postage Due", but I have (on a couple of occasions) been billed on my eBay invoice for a postage underpayment and a postage overpayment.

No, tracking will not show if any postage is due. Also, no USPS does not always charge. Nor they do always refund for overages.
More than likely you will see no charges at this time. If you do get a charge you will receive a message and automatic deduction. Your buyers will never know either.
