Will I get this shipping defect removed automatically or will I have to contact ebay?

I sold an item on February 11th.  I shipped it out on Feb 12 and it was in the system.  However due to the weather it got lost for a while.  The buyer opened up an item not received case on the 25th.  I contacted ebay and they told me due to the weather that the case would be put on hold until March 8th due to the weather.  Afterwards I contact the Post Office and they do an investigation into the item.  However, on Feb 28th I receive a notification from ebay stating they refunded him and I got a transaction defect for not refunding the buyer for cases closed without seller resolution.

The package is finally showing movement on March 3rd and I hope the package reaches its destination.  So will I have to contact ebay to get my money back and get the defect removed or will ebay do this automatically?  This falls under the severe weather and I'm just stressed out at having to deal with this person.

You can try to get your money back filing an appeal.  Go to this page and find out how. Do it as soon as possible. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/managing-returns-refunds/appeal-ebays-decision-return-missing-item...

However, I doubt you will win as the case sounds like it was closed before the buyer received the item. You can try contacting eBay using the email link at the bottom of that page or on social media.  On social media you leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address, phone number, email address, user ID, and a brief explanation of your problem.

To get your money back, you'll have to contact the buyer and hope they are the honest type.
