For example:
A flat rate padded bag from USPS went from $7.25 to $7.30
eBay went from $6.30 to $6.90 on the same item.
Furthermore, eBay charges commission on shipping whether it is separate from the item cost or "embedded" as "free shipping." It is about 9%
So just on the padded flat rate bag, a seller used to break even due to the ebay discount offset. Now a seller loses about 4% of the shipping charge if the seller does not load the shipping to compensate for eBay commissions.
The new 2018 pricing is all over the place with eBay, but certainly is NOT in favor of assisting the sellers.
Previously under 8 oz was a flat rate of $2.77 or under 4 oz $2.66 This is no longer. The USPS rates for 15 to 16 oz are not even listed. There is no eBay discount, even though eBay charges commission on these shipping amounts.
PayPal charges also, based on the whole purchase amount including shipping.
Not fair eBay!!!! You are ripping off your sellers on shipping charges. If you did not negotiate a good deal with USPS then STOP CHARGING SELLERS commission on exact postage shipping. Figure out some other way of controlling sellers who will load the cost into shipping charges.
We live in a day of computers and algorithms. eBay should be able to come up with an algorithm that regulates shipping. This will bring cost down to the buyers and increase sales.
Shipping scammers will get caught because they will have to pay for the service or weight they nominate. There will be a clear difference between that rate and any fee avoidance loading they try to put on to the shipping.
