Why ebay auto accept return?

Hi

Today I have a angry case. The buyer is my competitor, he buy my item at 28-Sept, and today he open a return request. In Past, ebay give us some option such as: accept return, decline or contact buyer, but now ebay auto accept return .

And do you know what I meet? buyer sent item for me with a fake USPS tracking number, after I received case request 4 hours, ebay said return item delivered. WTH?

And after that I have to refund for him without received my item.

I think ebay should change back their policies, you protect buyer but who will protect seller?

With "free returns" eBay does an auto accept.

If you do not want that to happen you need to set it so a RMA # is required.

Re: Why ebay auto accept return?

As a seller, you agree to the Return Policy of the eBay Money Back Guarantee. This means if a return is opened under the eBay Money Back Guarantee eBay will auto accept it for you since you have indicated you agree with the policy in order to sell. Typically eBay gives you 3 days to accept before they accept for you.

If you have any kind of a remorse return policy such as "Buyer paid return shipping" or "Seller paid return shipping" then that means you are willing to accept a return for any reason and they will be auto accepted for you. You can however enable an option that allows you 3 business days before eBay provides the return label (but the return will still be accepted in both cases).

Essentially the idea is to move returns as quickly as possible to get them over with since they are a waste of time and energy.

I know this doesn't resolve the issue you are having with the return, but it is an explanation as to why eBay automatically accepts returns.

Please stop what? Did I make a mistake in my answer? This is my understanding of how returns work.
