Why can’t eBay update my listings with First Class to Ground Advantage?

eBay responded to this question by adding to the FAQs on Ground Advantage.

Why can’t eBay update my listings with First Class to Ground Advantage?

The USPS has separated their First-Class service by moving First-Class Package to Ground Advantage and maintaining First Class Mail for letters, envelopes and flats. The “First-Class” service will continue to be available on eBay for listings where sellers are shipping with these methods. For this reason, eBay is unable to update seller’s listings with First-Class to Ground Advantage.

To all the sellers hoping eBay would reverse their decision on updating First Class to Ground Advantage automatically, it's not going to happen for the reason posted above. First Class is going to be used for First Class Mail (untracked letters/flats) at some point in the future.

eBay said in their last announcement that they'd give more than 30 days for sellers to update their First Class Package listings to Ground Advantage. No hard timeline was provided.

Links in my signature below offer help to sellers that want to update listings using the bulk edit tool or switching to business policies.

...well they have been updating mine without any problem.

They're not @monster-deals

Item 364336497770

Shipping tab shows First Class

If you're referring to the label purchase page, that's entirely separate from your listings. Labels will default, but listings will not. Listings shipping First Class package still need to be updated.

If it automatically selects Ground Advantage my weights and size don't change so it is "updated" as far as I'm concerned.

Unless there is something else going on.

Kyle from the eBay team just posted in another thread (link) that listings might not renew if sellers don't update with correct shipping services, so that's a risk you'll be taking by refusing to update.

I'm commenting this because I was trying to get answers. Just yesterday 1-29-24 I listed a tiny item. 1st Class was available as a shipping method at $1.67. Then it sold today 1-30-24 and eBay automatically changed it to Advantage while purchasing a label. Come on IT can't you fix this?  Probably can't because they apparently have millions of auctions using 1st class.

Here is however a suggestion during the listing that says Advantage is Recommended! How about a warning that states Frist class is not available its only a illusion. Just saying.

This does not fall under something that IT needs to fix.  eBay has never offered shipping labels for First Class letters or flats, even though they allow you to set up listings which offer those services.

So if you offered First Class letter or flat shipping, but try to purchase a label, eBay will default to the cheapest available option, which currently is Ground Advantage.  If you'd rather ship via the offered service (i.e., FC letter or flat) you'll have to purchase your postage at the Post Office or just put stamps on your envelope.
