I have 2 returns in progress and when I open the Return Details on each one the page formats are completely different ... is there a reason for this? Pics below.

INAD vs Remorse?

The red format is automatic returns: It cannot be switched even if the buyer creates the return request URL from scratch.
1. It tries to trick the buyer to pick a non-SNAD reason:
2. then forces the buyer to use the eBay-issued label, to block using their own label.

Thanks,I thought everything I had for sale was set for Automatic Returns PLUS, both of these are Free Returns which to me is automatic right?!?

Notice the blue format is not automatic.
It's not whether remorse or SNAD because the decision which format to use is made before the buyer is shown the list of reasons.
And it's not dependent on whether the buyer has any comments or photos to add, because that's on the first page in the blue format and second page in the red format (and your 2 buyers each had something to say).
More, it's not the seller, as you the seller have return requests in both formats. So it must be the buyer history, for example, one of your buyers is ... a serial killerreturner.

@azaz_8302 Okay, which one is the culprit red or blue? The red happens to be the Buyer who processed a Return request before the item was delivered.

I noticed these formats as well as a return buyer and seller. I believe the red one is where the buyer gets refunded once the item is delivered... which is right away/instantly? The blue one gives room for the seller to refund once seller inspects item. Just my opinion...

Both are actually Free Returns so I will have some options on both for what is refunded ... I am not familiar with an "instant" refund scenario.

I just opened a return with the red format for an item that is 100% counterfeit. That format is what I am seeing atm. I'm assuming as soon as it gets delivered to the seller, that I will be refunded for my purchase by eBay (and not by the seller, since the seller hasn't even replied to any of my messages nor the open case). It's actually the first time I've seen this format so I don't know if my assumption is correct either. I just think that eBay will somehow grab those funds from the seller via PayPal and refund me.

Interesting ... the red return was automatically accepted and I messaged the Buyer to let them know they should wait to print the label until the item is actually delivered. This one was automatically accepted. The blue return I made sure to send the Buyer a pre-paid label ...
My understanding with issuing Refunds on returns, regardless of the reason, is that Sellers are given 2 days to process the Refund. If they miss that window Buyers can contact eBay, ask them to step in and close the claim in the Buyer's favor. Sellers get a defect if that happens.

Very interesting! When I used the "not authentic" reason, it took 3 days with no response from seller, and eBay decided in my favor. They allowed me to use either eBay's label or use my own (but using my own requires me to pay for shipping). I decided to use the pre-paid label eBay provided and I assume eBay is paying for the shipping (though, I'm sure eBay will somehow deduct shipping from the final value fee or somewhere). Once I got to that part of the process, I just see those three steps. I'm assuming "refund" is upon delivery.
I did check the FAQ earlier yesterday and it said that sellers that don't answer the window frame of an open case won't have their final value fee returned? So perhaps the final value fee is for covering other expenses? *shrugs*
Maybe the red format is when case gets escalated and eBay steps in to pay for the shipping...? I know that when buyers use an SNAD on my items, I am asked to send them a pre-paid label. The other reasons buyers use is remorse so that requires the buyer to use their own label, I assume. Since the seller didn't answer me, eBay uses red format to escalate the case in my favor and have me return item via their label. I guess that would make more sense...

Actually, neither of my examples are where eBay needs to step in, they are both set up for Free Returns and just so you know, Sellers pay for the return shipping label but eBay has negotiated a reduced rate for Return labels with USPS (and I assume other carriers- don't know).
Sellers ONLY get their Final Value Fees credited back IF they do their part in the time the claim allows. Otherwise they lose the fees AND they get a ding on their account for being non-responsive at the end of the return.
