This is unprecedented. Usually the holidays I see a positive bump in sales. Well between numerous late missing or damaged packages, and now some buyer returns in excess of $600, I am in the hole for 1k. eBay and usps have really let me down. Curious if anyone else is experiencing this peril.

Everyone is in the same hole. Due to eBay's zero concern for sellers in this matter, all of us, I'm sure, are going to take a huge hit, being FORCED to refund items that are proven to be shipped on time, but just not delivered on time due to USPS/FedEx/UPS delays, with holiday. Covid, and short-handedness on the shipping partners parts.
I've been lucky and haven't had any claims filed...YET I'm just waiting. If eBay doesn't get a clue real quick and start backing their sellers, KNOWING that their are delays coast to coast, north. south, east and west with every single shipping partner available, and make sellers give refunds....they are going to lose A LOT of sellers.
Also giving fair warning...just wait because I am quite sure that late deliveries are also going to cause a barrage of "item not as described" dishonest return claims from buyers simply wanting to return items because they are entitled and don't get that everything is on hold, and feel they no longer want or need the item because they "didn't get it on time" and filing an item not as described claim will force sellers to take the return, due to eBay's lack of care or desire to actually look into claims, ask for pictures of damaged packaging, etc. Their response to everything is "just refund the buyer". What do they care? Not coming out of THEIR pocket. In a bad economy where people are selling just to get by, and others are lying to get free items... as long as eBay's wallet is thick, that's ALL they care about.
Just wait....it's coming.

I decided to protect myself.
I knew what the last couple of weeks would be like, so I shut down both of my shops until next year.

I have more things than usual listed, but wasn't expecting the number of sales I received. It's the highest I've ever had, and was totally unexpected. I got really stressed out in dealing with it and the delays on top of it so I ended up putting my store on vacation right before Christmas. I opened it up again just yesterday, but now have no sales because it's past the Christmas rush. I know I did myself in with it, esp because I sell mostly dolls and toys (big holiday items). The stress wasn't worth it when I was dealing with issues on multiple items as both a buyer and a seller. Still am, though no one is buying anything right now. That at least gives me some breathing room in dealing with the ones in transit. A Care Bear I ordered from CT is now in Jacksonville, FL. That would be good except I'm in Ohio. Then a doll I sent out showed nothing in tracking for days. Was only going from Ohio to KY. It went to Colorado then was sent back to me. 😞 At least I got it back, I guess, only now, this buyer has begged me to sell her the doll (again) so it's in transit (again). How do people deal with hundreds of packages going out? I've had about 8-10 recently, and most have had some kind of delay or bad situation attached.
