What to do when you're selling a download item but the seller doesn't download?

If the seller paid but doesn't download the item given, what can you really do?

My items are usually non refundable as they're download items.

Hi @kpopstan4life, I just wanted to jump in and confirm that the information @lacemaker3 is correct. We only allow digitally delivered goods on our classified pages. Since the transaction has already completed and you've already sent the code you can contact your buyer to verify they received the code and plan on using it.

eBay doesn't allow digital download items to be sold on eBay. If you sold a digital down load item on eBay, then you broke policy.

You can advertise them (i.e. list them) under this policy, in a classified ad in a specific category only if there is a leaf category that matches the item you are advertising. But you can't list and sell them in an auction or fixed price format, and classified ads are not sold on eBay.

Digitally delivered goods policy - eBay

When you sell things on eBay, you have to ship them to the buyer.

One of the big problems — if not the biggest problem — with selling digital objects is that you have no seller protection. Your "no return/refund" policy means nothing. If a buyer files a dispute against you, you have no proof of delivery.

Since you can't prove the item was delivered, buyer usually files a claim to get their money back while they keep your item

Have a great day.

I was thinking of that and just in case, so I made a link that tracks if the file is downloaded or not, alongside the IP address that if needed would be sent to eBay for them to check out, as they can see the user's IP address if I'm not mistaken.

I have the proof that user has downloaded the file. So now they only have to confirm delivery.

Thanks for all the help 🙂

That will NOT happen.  They will NOT even look at that.

If you continue to list as you have been, you are risking suspension of your account.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Ah but you don’t have proof. Not the kind eBay and PayPal will accept. However if you are going f to disregard the information given by experienced responders AND an eBay employee, at least make you abide by the digital goods policy.
