"We've asked the buyer to ship the item back by Aug 02. Wait until you get the item back before issuing a refund.
You should wait until you get the item back before you refund the buyer. Please ensure that you issue the refund within 6 business days of the item being delivered. If your buyer doesn't ship the item we may close the return and you don't have to issue a refund."
1) Remorse return request started on July 26th.
2) Todate (August 8th) no return tracking # uploaded and no sign of delivery.
Questions:
1) Contact buyer or
2) Contact CS
3) Wait another week for the return.
3) How long does system return requests time-out automatically.
Tried to wade through past 'returns' threads - but no help.
Many thanks in-advance for any feedbacks from the community.

We see this often. Buyer opens a return and never sends item. Just opens a return then it lags on with the messages from ebay about not refunding until return is sent.
Some go 40 days after then I look out in my front yard and the cows have come home and Ebay closed the return without any harm to me.
So I guess keep a check on that yard for cows to come home.

Sometimes eBay takes a while to automaticly close the return case. I know it is not the best thing but patience does help. For the purpose of the case, you tring to comunicate with the buyer will make you look better in ebay's eyes. Hopefully they either forgot or decided to keep the item. Calling customer support may help if they decide to close the case right away or you may have to ask ebay to setp in and decide a solution, usually a last resort effort.
I would wait another day or two and call customer support and just ask for what to do next. Hopefully this has been helpful for you. Have a great day.

This is our lst 'no show' of a remorse return after eBay's estimated dateline.
Just don't want to be blindsided by any 'hard + fast rule' within the platform
of such cases.
Will wait 'till the cows come home ..."
As for contacting the 'remorse return' buyer - I'll skip that for now.
Last check on said buyer - still shopping till there's no tomorrow - according
to the fbs left by other sellers since last purchased from us.
Much appreciated.

You can phone ebay and ask them to close the return if the item hasn't been shipped in the required time. I haven't done that but many sellers have mentioned been successful with that. I've always waited until the ebay closes the return. I believe they do that 30 business days from date of the request opening.
If you do wait, you will get generic messages like 'the buyer indicates they have sent back the item" even if there is no such indication. Or it will mention that you have a specific date to refund. But if there is no tracking number uploaded in the return and/or you have not received the item back, just ignore those messages as they go out for every return, regardless of the circumstances.
