Was sent the wrong item and package had two labels on it.

Hey there, if anyone can point me in the right direction in how to handle this, I'd very much appreciate it. I had ordered a video game controller from a seller, with the expected delivery today. However, upon receiving the package today, I received a completely different item inside. What makes things more confusing is the package had two different shipping labels.

One shipping label correctly corresponds to the seller I made the purchase from being sent to me, while the other indicates a different seller and recipient that is in a completely different state. I'm not sure about who is responsible for this mix-up exactly.

Should I reach out to my seller directly, contact eBay, or talk to USPS to resolve this matter? Where on the order page can I open a dispute or ticket, or some such? And what do I do about this wrong item sent to me?

Thanks for reading and any help given.

This is how to handle the situation....

You go to your purchase history, click the drop down menu it will either say RETURN THIS ITEM or MORE ACTIONS.

Next click doesn't match description or pictures.

You may or may not be required to upload a picture, after that you can click submit, complete return.
Your seller has 2 days to issue a return label or refund, if by day 3 you don’t receive a return label or refund. You can go back to the case and that’s when you can ask eBay to step in for your refund.

Good luck.

Sounds like the label came off your package and got stuck on someone else's package.

I would contact the seller with photographs.

If the seller refuses to work it out with you then you can file a return request (here) for missing parts/pieces.

If the seller is willing to work with you on a refund, you should cooperate with them on an insurance claim - turn the package, contents, dual labels - whole thing - over to USPS (or whichever carrier) for inspection. With USPS they can view photographs of package en-route to determine if the original package was different from the one you received.

Do you know if item came from a real seller or if it was drop shipping from a store ?

That would explain the two different shipping labels maybe.

Does tracking you received before package getting mailed matches tracking on the package now ?

It would be an item not as described. I would contact seller. Some sellers are honest and the seller could give you a refund as well as keep the package. Return shipping can be costly and a pain for buyers who normally don't ship things out. Perhaps take a photo and also send to the seller. Seems like an honest mistake.
