Usps not scanning items (not even acceptance scan)

I shipped multiple packages (5 total) on Monday 4/6.  2 went Priority and 3 Retail Ground. I personally dropped them off at the counter in the post office. The 2 Priority were scanned in, tracked entire shipment and delivered.  1 Retail Ground had movement up till wed 4/8 and now stuck on the in transit message (was supposed to arrive 4/11 originally). The other 2 (Retail Ground) haven't had any movement, nor do they even show acceptance scan (only shipping label created, usps awaiting to receive item). I realize there are delays due to pandemic,  but has anyone else noticed if it has to do with how an item is shipped? ie Priority vs First Class vs Retail Ground Etc? Im getting worried and feel horrible for my customers 😞

Oh and im shipping out of the Reno NV area if that helps, if anyone has experienced delays from NV. Thanks 🙂

I ship many packages to US from Czech Republic. None of them were scanned for the last 2-3 weeks. Have no idea what's going on there but it definitely not right. Customers are trying to take advantage of it already and open item not received cases. On the other hand, eBay doesn't want to be any part of it. Tried to contact eBay support, they wouldn't even answer my questions.

I am seeing the same thing with my First Class pkgs that my postman picks up, and he always scans them.Theres always a slight delay with tracking on them because he uses a hand held scanner,and the tracking is not updated in the system for a day or two..but now its three, sometimes, four days...I know our post office has reduced hours and reduced staff right now..maybe yours does too. Im sure your customers understand we are in a national emergency,and this cant be helped.

The only way to prevent that problem is to make sure you get a paper acceptance scan receipt for each package you ship, no exceptions! I know it is inconvenient, but it is the only way to be sure it gets entered into the system. Even then we had a new USPS counter person scan a package as delivered instead of accepted one time and that was a pain.

I've noticed a couple things with this.  First, tracking with USPS seems to have gone to **bleep** this year.  Maybe the pandemic, who knows.  But I have sent some packages overseas to Taiwan, the tracking will last as far as Chicago, and then I hear nothing more until they are delivered.   Second, EBAY is selling the postage you print yourself at a discount, and I think the USPS therefore cuts back a lot of the tracking on it.  I noticed when I send packages WITHOUT the Ebay postage, but directly from the post office, there is never a problem.  Yes, the postage costs more, but at least you will get updated tracking.
