Can I use the old Priority Mail Regional A box RRBA1 box for Priority Express Mail service? Is that against USPS policy?

Right after those boxes were discontinued I was bummed because I had just received some from USPS and were the perfect ones for what I had been selling. I was told that I could still use them, they would just be billed at the Standard Priority rate based on the weight, in other words not the Letter, Medium, Large flat rate, etc. I have used them a couple times when the package wasn't going far and wasn't heavy. The rates were actually less than Ground Advantage. It's been several months though so I will probably double check that before using one again just to make sure. I just loved the Regional A boxes as they were perfect for an unopened box of cards. I hope this helps answer your question.
Maybe I should put some of those "A" boxes on Ebay........LOL

I still have quite a few of the priority mail regional A and B boxes and I use them quite often for shipping items priority mail. I see no reason you could not use one for Priority Mail Express just make sure when you purchase the label it is based on the size of the box and not for one of the Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Boxes.
I have only shipped 1 item priority mail express because of the cost but the customer was willing to pay. It is the only shipping for which USPS offers a money back guarantee if they do not make the delivery date and time which is by 6 PM either the next day or second day. They will also delivery it on Sunday in most areas but I believe there is an additional fee for that. I would recommend you get the package weighed and scanned at the post office and obtain a receipt. The delivery date may depend on what time you drop it at the PO.

My apologies, I missed that word "express" in there.

Yea, I don't blame you. I hate how USPS added the word "Priority" before Express Mail. Confusing as heck.

You can, but I would suggest putting it inside a poly mailer. Dropping it off at the PO they will put express stickers on it and this way it will not be confused with another service. You aren'r breaking rules doing it this way I suggest, and it will be sent the proper service this way.

I believe you can always cross use these boxes for higher levels of service but not for lower levels. Ie you cannot use express box for regular priority or priority box for GA.

While the postal system did say it was allowed to use the old regional boxes for other forms of priority mail, postal employees are always the last to know of their own rules. That could cause it to get flagged and pulled aside. Also, it might not get handled as express mail. Both would add delays. I suggest you get the correct boxes.

I would just use those regional Priority boxes for Priority shipments. I wouldn't use them for the Priority Express shipments.

The biggest issue is that box will get the SAME treatment as a 'regular priority' as SELDOM are the 'labels' SEEN by a human...
You can get 'free boxes' at the post office, or mailed to you or even better...Just get a roll of FREE 'Express' stickers and put on all 6 sides of a 'plain cb box' (that's how I do it and per tracking, gets there Just as Fast)
