I'm sure I'm not the only person to notice that some, in fact a lot, of shipping charges are ludicrous ! What is up with this ? In my opinion, people are trying to make more money on their product and doing it by charging a ridiculous amount for shipping !! THIS CAN NOT AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO ON !! eBay, PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS !! I'm going to give one example of this I was looking at a Tonka truck and it was listed at will say $35.00 not bad, but the shipping was $65.00 come on people this is robbery. I like eBay myself, always have, but this is causing me to look else where for the products I need. Hoppfully this will get noticed and something will be done about it. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, J.L.E.

How heavy is the Tonka Truck & what shipping service is the seller using to your address?

Might point out that some sellers include the wrapping and packing in their shipping price.
Not quite sure what you want eBay to do about this, they probably figure that anyone who finds the shipping fee to be too high can always hit the back arrow.

The USPS raised prices three times this past and current year. They added additional charges for larger items and for longer items. Shipping is expensive to the buyer because it is expensive for the seller. Sellers are also charged a fee on shipping by eBay.

I searched Tonka Truck priced 34.99 to 36.00, and the one I saw that was 65. shipping was from Australia.

"this is causing me to look else where for the products I need."
I was unaware that Tonka trucks were among the "necessities of life".

Big and heavy items are expensive to ship. Chances are that you live very far from the seller too.

And that's why his item will sit there forever and never sell, with ads of other items just like this one below his for much cheaper will get the sale.

Back in eBay's very early years, eBay charged their final value fees on only the cost of the item, and did not include the cost of postage/shipping. This led to too many listings where people were trying to sell their old toys for $2.50 and $27.50 shipping costs, and other outrageous costs.
eBay finally wised up and DID do SOMETHING ABOUT sellers who charged a ridiculous amount for shipping. They started to include the cost of postage in the amount that was subject to eBay's Final Value Fee. This happened many years ago.
Nowadays, smart eBay buyers will look at the shipping costs as well as the price of the Thing. Smart buyers will also estimate the sales tax they will have to pay. If the total price is beyond their budget, they will have to click the back button.
As another poster suggested, is it possible that that $65.00 shipping cost is because the seller is in Australia, and you are in the United States?

So don't buy it...
