What's up with USPS lately? Look at this comedy of errors tracking. Started out in Minneapolis 3/27, made good time through Iowa. Bounced around in Warrendale PA hub. Made it to Rochester on the 2nd. Buffalo and the tiny town of Derby (which is not on the route to ANYWHERE) on the 3rd. Then it goes BACK to Rochester on the 4th. I'm near Niagara Falls, so it's going in the wrong direction. I have another package that been in post office purgatory in Pittsburgh for 10 days. I have a 3rd package that's been experiencing a 'processing exception' for 3 days. Has USPS gone postal?

I shipped a USPS Priority Mail package last Friday (March 29). Shipped it from the east coast of Florida to Connecticut. Basically headed right up the eastern coastline. Package spent a nice few, relaxing days in Chicago. Heaven knows why. Finally delivered today (Thursday, April 4).

I have one that was supposed to leave Pittsburgh on the 24th. Has not been seen since. It's probably in an empty sack someplace resting. Only had another few miles to travel to make it to Mars.
3 items shipped on April Fools got a carrier scan, then poof. No more scans.

I just had a USPS ground package mailed from Michigan March 18, delivered to buyer in Texas April 3rd. Doesn't happen often, but they can sure take their time sometimes!!

There are currently USPS shipping delays occurring in the North East for any packages that were going thru Warrendale, PA on 3-24-19 due to the postal facility in Warrendale, PA closing due to a mercury spill. I too have a package delayed since 3-24. Hopefully will see movement of my package by this weekend now that the Warrendale facility will be reopening on 4-5. See below:
Operations To Resume At Warrendale Postal Facility Following Mercury Spill (https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2019/04/04/warrendale-postal-facility-mercury-spill-operations-resum...)
The Warrendale Network Distribution Center was shut down on Sunday, March 24, after the facility received an improperly mailed package containing mercury. The United States Postal Service says remediation efforts have been completed, and the facility is in compliance with environmental regulations. Daily mail processing operations will resume at a postal facility in Warrendale on Friday (April 5) following a mercury spill.
In a release, the USPS said, “We apologize to customers who may have experienced temporary service issues and assure them that we continue to make progress every day toward restoring normal operations. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers, suppliers, and mailing partners.”

I have had three packages mailed around the same time- March 22-23 - that have been taking awhile to be delivered. One finally was delivered yesterday.
The other two haven't been scanned since the initial acceptance and one scan afterward. One of those was a first class bubble wrap mailer. The other I still have hopes will show up as it was a package that would be difficult to just misplace somewhere.
Since Warrendale (Pittsburgh) closed on the 24th, packages have been sent to other locations (NC & NJ), delaying their delivery as well since they are going further away from where they are to be delivered. I will be glad when things are back to normal, so I feel for you!

recently bought an item that traveled around quit a bit via USPS - First Class Package . Went rom Wisconsin, to Minnesota to Anchorage, Alaska and finally to li'l ole Covington, Ga - total ET & calendar day. Glad I wasn't in a hurry for this item and it was nice to see the USPS didn't move anything on Sunday - kinda' like Chick-Fil-A. Didn't bust the seller for the USPS screw up.

Have shipped 1525 via eBay since 2010 plus some personal its via USPS all with tracking and can't recall any really strange routings until recently after the USPS Jan. 2019 price increase. The other one I shipped an item to Missouri (near Kansas City ) from GA it went to Kansas City then to Detroit Michigan, it ping ponged around in Michigan between Allen Park & Detroit sort facilities then finally back to Kansas City before it was delivered - only one date later than estimated.

A thermometer probably broke. ( a vintage one containing Mercury ) so they shut the whole place down as they wanted a few days off.

Was not aware of the Warrendale issue. Good info, but that does not explain why my packages shipped on April Fool's Day did not get a scan at the "Regional Facility" nearest me, and are all now beyond the time when they would normally have been delivered without any more scans. My items would not have routed through Warrendale , except the one going to Mars, and it supposedly was already at Pittsburgh (just a stones throw from Mars) before it ventured off into the unknown. Saturday March 30, and Tuesday April 2nd items have no problem. Scanned, and delivered.
Postmaster responsible for the office has recently retired. The OIC is useless. Useless missing mail can not be filed before 7 days. 1-800 # will say wait for 10 days of "no scans" before talking to them.

I have found that if you sign up for the email notices to be sent to you when the package is scanned, it can sometimes kick a package loose. I think they monitor these and when there are no scans for a while they go looking for the package.
