Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

I'm in the UK which I appreciate is no longer part of the EU. I managed to bid or buy items from Germany before and get them delivered to a friend who lives in Germany. Most German sellers only post to Germany anyway.

Recently however I get the following message when I try to bid:

"Sorry, this item can't be sent to United Kingdom. Seller does not provide postage to the country or region of your primary delivery address"

This comes up even after I set my primary delivery address to the German friend's address. I even tried to delete all other delivery addresses, it seems by default it's set to UK address and it doesn't matter which one the primary is set to.

Happens both on the app and the PC version.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

@sztriki,

If the error message was in English, then you must have been on an English-speaking eBay site such as eBay UK, most likely (or eBay Ireland). Have you tried logging on to eBay Germany, and placing your bid there?

You might also want to try logging out of eBay and logging back in, and checking your default shipping address again, just to make sure that the change has really been accepted and implemented.

Since this is a recent change, you may want to ask about it on the eBay UK community. This is the eBay USA forum, and we may or may not experience the same issue here. I haven't heard about this before now.

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

Thanks very much, I haven't tried logging in from the German site.

Also, apologies, I didn't realize I wasn't posting at the UK section... *facepalm*

Hi

Did you ever solve this issue, I'm trying to bid on something in France tonight and even with a French shipping address I'm hitting the same road blocks.

Thanks

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

I am also hitting this, but from the other end. I do have a UK shipping address (besides a few other), but eBay wouldn't allow me to bid from the .com site. I've already lost two auctions because of this. I don't understand why should it matter which site I bid from if I have the corresponding shipping address.

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

I met this issue from nearest 2 auction. I used to bid from ebay.de many time. But in 2 last cases, the error message prevented me from bidding with that message. Boring! I have 3 different shipping addresses for many places to join bidding.

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

I have the same issue when I have only a German address on the German website. Sometimes it works but most of the time I keep getting this error.

I changed and saved the primary address once and it worked for an hour or so. But now again the same thing.

The trick that works sometimes is to put phone on airplane mode, enable VPN and then change the primary address to some other location and back to Germany. (I don't know how long it will work).

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

why this is marked as solved ?

-

Have the same problem - as others described.

-

I bid many times at Ebay.De - and I have log from Ebay.De also.
-
my primary  ( and only ) adress is in other country.

BUT ......
-
Before .... half a year ago maybe - I was clearly "whitelisted" - and I did many bids ...
.
NOW -  I have been blocked - for bid.

-

I was thinking how this is adress related - But now reading this topic - I'm not sure - the updating to the german adress - will fix the thing.

Re: Unable to bid due to address even after changing it

This is due to the fact that the seller doesn't allow international trade, meaning he only trades with germans user.
To bypass this you need to change your registered address to Germany. And of course, provide a german shipping address also.
