USPS rate hikes.

Once again we sellers will feel a squeeze (although slight for many) from rate hikes by USPS.

USPS seems to like these bi-annual/regular increases.

The USPS needs a lot of changes and consolidation.

With how it's been run for so long the only way to try and decrease loss is to increase prices. Especially on more rural areas that operate on even higher deficit.

However political pressure is trying to prevent as much change as possible.

It's like they want the PO to continue to operate on a multi billion deficit per year.

🤣I’ve never seen a forum where the posters are always justifying every action by corporate and business entities. It’s comical. The usps is a bottomless pit, endlessly raising rates will not improve their bottom line. I’m glad you all enjoy paying more.

I guess we could scream at the sky and get an ulcer or stress out over something that is beyond our control.

Or whine like a crybaby about how life is unfair and the proletariat continue suffer under the boot of corporate oppressors.  (Or whatever it is that young people these days carp about.)

I'd rather enjoy paying more (and be thankful for the excellent service) than be miserable paying more.

Put another way, I choose to be rational under imperfect circumstances.

Depends  on what the net before taxes is for all items in each scenario.   Gross selling  prices means little.

Here' a link to a news article.  It talks about delays, but I don't recall it mentioning any increases to go along with the new policy.  Interesting business plan though, slower and more expensive for the rural folks and hold the price steady for the urban communities with a slight 'bump up' in speed to keep them happy, until the next price increase.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/08/22/usps-mail-slowdown-election/

Yep no mention of the price increase. I've spent about an hour looking for info on the reason for the increase and haven't found anything yet. I can't even find a mention of it at the USPS website.

Must not be looking in the right place.

@johnrj1226

If that is an issue for you then you are doing it wrong.

I make the same profit percentage on everything I sell across the price span. So the total profit on a $200 item is 33 1/3% higher than the total profit on 10 $15 items. Actually, it would probably be theoretically higher if I chose to apply a value to the time I save by only having to package and ship one box versus 10 boxes. But that would be so few minutes as to be overly nitpicking.
