Good evening everyone!
I sent out a package 16 days ago via USPS priority mail. I know for a fact I handed in the right package to the clerk at the counter, but for some reason it has not shown any updates or tracking information throughout this entire time! I filed a missing package claim and insurace claim, but all the customer services reps say "you never turned it in, you just created a shipping label. we never recieved it". I understand it doesn't look good on my part, but I know I handed in the right package with proper address (I sell on average 1-2 things a week, it's very hard to get confused). And of course my buyer recently filed a claim that he did not recieve the package. Is it unlikely I'll get my money back through the priorty mail insurance-claim because it doesn't show any tracking info or "packaged recieved"? Is this a common thing, or has this happened to any one of you? At this point I'll take any advice or feedback on this matter, thanks again for the help!

You need to get an Acceptance scan each and every time you drop off a package at the post office. That would be your proof that you did in fact hand over the package to someone at the USPS, and they would accept a lost package claim.
Go to https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input
and enter the tracking number. On the right side will be an option to enter your email address for updates. Hopefully, that will jar the package loose and get it going on its way.

I know I got a recpiet for my transaction (I always have them scan it). But I lost the recpiet or threw it away thinking I wouldn't need it. Is their anyway they could look up the bill# for that scan?

Nope.

If you in fact had the item scanned in at the PO there would have been an acceptance scan posted to the tracking status and you would have received a receipt.
If you threw away the reciept, you threw away any evidence you may have had.
For the future, hang on to those receipts until you see the item was accepted into the USPS system.
We hand off most of our packages to our carrier, she scans them in all the time and never issues a receipt - but the tracking status updates shows the carrier did pick it up & the carrier delivered it to our local sort/distribution center.
