USPS is killing me !

It's been 2 months already, USPS service around my area (Los Angeles) simply quit scanning.
one 5th of my orders shipped out has no trace until they were delivered, nothing in between.
I've been bombarded by buyers all day long.
Some honest buyers email me telling me order was delivered but obviously USPS doesn't want to scan the package.
It used to be very good and sharp, but since COVID-19 hit, thing turned south and now is even worse.

And of course, my sales are free falling  ... .

Do you guys experience the same thing in your area ?

Not here in Chicago. Tracking is pretty good, altho slower than usual. And they track to Cali without incident.

Sorry to hear. Have you contacted your local post office to ask? Or make online 'where's my package' reports?

That's what I do if I don't see movement for a few days.

No, my local PO always scans everything even if it just gets dropped off on the counter. The larger local PO also has self-serve kiosks that do scans as well as a computer set up at the counter where you can scan your own packages in if you're just dropping them off on the counter.

I have not had any issues and I have shipped all over the country via ebay and other sites.

I only use UPSS and over the past year, I have shipped to most every state and only one item was delayed more than 1 day. They were all scared at delivery.

I do take the time to make sure packages are scanned accepted at the counter and ship mostly via priority mail and first class. I will not use media or parcel select. They are the most likely to have issues.

Oh I hate to tell you this but Cali is absolutely the worst when it comes to USPS.  I have no idea why that is but I have had issues with them when it comes to California orders.  Lost in the mail or like you say, the honest buyers tell you that they got it while others who are looking for an opportunity to score something for free will file a claim.

I feel for you b/c you are a larger seller so you probably do not have the time to stand in line and MAKE them scan your items or at least a scan sheet.

Cali is the only state that I am having issues on a regular basis though...

Good luck...???

Depending on what you sell, maybe you want to consider UPS or FedEx. Competitive rates and I think more reliable then the service you are getting.

Another thought-- this may be impractical in LA--you probably have at least one main PO somewhere. One that is open late and seven days a week. It's likely mail going out of that location is treated better in terms of scanning and how fast packages move. I live near a PO that has three mail pick ups a day. A package dropped off at 5:55pm (closes at 6 M-F) will actually get to the next facility that night 95% of the time.  Open on Saturday and Sunday. And even on Sunday, packages move.
