I am experiencing often for last couple months that the packages sent through USPS are either routed to wrong direction or its being very slow in transit without any explanation. Just mentioned in tracking information "In transit to next facility, arriving late". Anyone knows what's happening? How to answer the buyers in these situations? Thanks in advance.

USPS has a increase of unexplained delay issues , Bouncing around to the wrong sorting plants with Ground advantage . also loss's have also pickup with ground advantage . also there has been some minor short delay issues with Priority .

Usually the USPS screws up about once a month for me....but in the last 30 days, I've had over 10 packages have issues. One priority mail I refunded the customer after 2 weeks and filed a "missing mail" report, instructing them to return the package to the sender (me) if found....after a week it was delivered to the customer, who will be keeping the $600 item for free.
They blame it on "severe weather". I don't know what to do except switch to UPS for everything.

Many dramatic changes in USPS performance can be traced to personnel in one's local PO. Sometime a chat with the local postmaster can yield insights and improved performance.

I have never had any issues with USPS until this year, it is getting totally ridiculous, I just keep seeing this now on my shipments.

I can speculate, but I could easily be wrong. I've seen more mail problems in the last three years or so than I'd dealt with the previous decade or more.
If someone wants to convince the general public that the post office would be better off in the hands of private owners, what better way to do it than to 'create' slow downs and other various problems so that a 'Lone Ranger' (or some other hero) can swoop in and 'save' our mail system.
Lovejoy was installed as the Post Master General for a long enough period of time to gain critical knowledge of all of the systems. With Lovejoy leaving, he would be in a prime position to help whomever would desire to bring 'new vision' to our mail system. Lucky us.

I've thought about trying Fedex Ground Economy.
