I don't know what is wrong with the USPS lately. I dropped off two packages on Jan. 30, three on Jan 31, and one on Feb. 3, and none of them have received any scans. Ebay has already hit my account for one of them and will probably do the same for the rest of them, even though it's not my fault. I am Top Rated and I always send out all packages on the next business day after receiving payments from buyers. I have never seen anything like this happen before, therefore, it clearly proves to me that they are doing it deliberately.
I will most likely have to visit the post office soon to find out what's happening and contact Ebay to have them remove the wrongful defects from my account.

After speaking to two different agents over the phone and some others through email messages, Ebay did eventually remove the defects.
Ebay does actually think about things, but sometimes it just takes some time and patience to work with them and convince them to make the correct decision.

If you dont wait for a scan this can happen.
There is no USPS guarantee that your packages will be scanned if you just drop them off.
I highly doubt eBay will remove the defects. You didnt wait and get a scan so how is eBay to know when you dropped them off?

I would never keep my buyers waiting, so it doesn't matter to me what Ebay wants to think. They would be wrong. They have removed them for me many times before. I always put them in a drop box inside the post office, and they have always scanned them before without any problems. Definitely a way for them to lose money and many customers. As if they don't already have enough problems. It seems that they only want more.

O usually go to the post office 6 days a week, and always stand in line to get the first acceptance scan, just part of the job.

They know they are supposed to scan the packages whether we stand in line or not. That's their job.

And they use to have a practice off making sure everything was scanned before it left the post office. I feel I am not doing my due diligence if I do not get an acceptance scan, which proves the post office has possession of my buyers merchandise.

It's more like a waste of everybody's time for us to stand in line just to have packages scanned when it's already their job to do so anyway. Wastes everybody's time in line and also wastes the postal clerks time, especially if the labels are already paid for prior to dropping them off.

Then just keep doing what you are doing, but don't complain about the less than perfect results.

There are always going to be new employees in a post office and as any company...and sometimes employees make mistakes.
Sometimes it's too busy in the post office or short of employees that day.
Thus, forgetting to scan a package(s).
I would wait in line for items to be scanned since it is a current problem at your post office.
Keeping that 'Top Rated' status is not easy when packages need a scan at the beginning of receiving package(s)...which is why I wouldn't even try for that status.

They have been getting lax with scans for months now. I switched to three day handling to help a bit with it.

You are expecting all federal employees to be efficient.
Standing in line forces them to be. Unfortunately this is reality.
The same with state employees, some are efficient but too many aren't. Department of Motor Vehicles for instance.

Yes but mistakes happen, people calling in sick. too many packages and too few people to handle, you gotta stand in line and get that scan.

What you are reporting is not unusual, and there have been several other accounts of non-scanned packages from all around the country.
During the last several years, under the current Postmaster General (appointed by Donald Trump), post office branches have been ordered to find ways to cut costs, including skipping or eliminating some required USPS functions -- including package scans.
Since you state that you are using the drop fox at your post office, is there also a 24 hour service kiosk in the lobby?
If there is, you can scan your packages yourself before dropping them inside the drop box, and eBay will accept that scan as "on time."

I'm with you - I don't have time to wait in line. The times I do, there's one worker who always tells me that I should use the drop-off bin because they "always" scan packages - as if I am being a burden by trying to get a real-time acceptance scan. Generally, scans haven't been an issue, but the past 4 days have been unusually slow with tracking. Even my scheduled pick-ups have been unreliable.
There has to be some degree of reliance on USPS to do their job and scan. However, if this doesn't get any better, I'll have to consider waiting in line for the true acceptance scan.
