Essentially, they are raising awareness of internal theft of packages and items, as well as issues with security and procedures. Targeted items are primarily small things, like credit cards, pills, etc, but wanted to make sure sellers and buyers are aware of the issue.
If you have items you sell or buy that could be targeted in this manner, you may want to consider your options for which carrier to use.
As a buyer, you can purchase from sellers that use a shipment method you prefer, or you can ask the seller before you purchase.
As a seller, you can change the available shipment methods if needed.
Hopefully they will address the issue, but I would suspect it will be a slow fix. I personally haven't had a problem, but I'm sure some of you have, maybe without even realizing it.

Its nothing new, right now in Northern California at a large USPS there is an on going investigation into checks being stolen, white washed and cashed...has been going on for the last 8 months. I'm sure this happens all over more than we know. My FedEx rep reminds me all the time to make sure, no matter how small your item is, never ship it in a small enough box that can fit in a coat pocket. My rule of thumb, here and elsewhere, is the box has to be larger on one side than the full size label.

I have not ever had a problem with USPS, yet....
Everything has been delivered over the years.
I do not ship expensive items via USPS. The expensive items or anything I really care about go UPS.

I've lost thousands of dollars in inventory in the last year ussing usps. I switched to UPS and I sent four packages. The fifth one was lost. It was a $500 piece of jewelry. They said I never dropped it off but they don't scan it. They tell you to put it over on this counter, so this is such a scam . I don't know who you're supposed to use.My sales are high dollar amount so that's why it's so high but I've lost probably a third of the packages that I sent gotten lost or you know never show up and it's really expensive and I can't believe it. I also can't believe that if us if an item is returned, not as described and no one's checking whether it's described or not, and it counts against the seller that's not really a policy. The actual policy is really if someone returnes some thing it will count against you. If no one's monitoring the policy tthen is just talk. It's really unfair and sellers get penalized because every buyer knows they can just say not ass described. eBay is all about buyers, but you know what without sellers there would be no buyers cause there'd be nothing to sell so maybe they should try and be a little more evenhanded with their policy and maybe have some kind of accountability for their policy. It's really hard to believe that I keep selling on this platform because I think they're all the same and how do they get away with this? It's just grueling..
