My mail carrier did not pick up mail in my neighborhood on 8/17 and now I have 4 packages that show not shipped on time. This will seriously impact my rating but what can I do?
My mail carrier is the one designated to pick up packages if I request a pick up and usually this is no problem.
Is there anything I can do to off-set this?
There was no mail delivered or picked up in my whole neighborhood.
The postmaster only takes a complaint but that doesn't help my eBay rating.
Thanks for any help.

There is nothing you can do if the packages are shipped late. You can only hope that the post office delivers them fast, on time or before the last estimated delivery date.
While it is not a solution for anything that is already past, in the future you might consider changing your handling time. Add an extra day or two to your handling time and mail as you normally would. If the mail is not picked up you will have a cushion to get it out the next day.
File a report online at the USPS about the missed pick up, not directly with your post office. They have to address the missed pick up and for whatever reason, the post office seems take those reports seriously.
I'm not a fan of increasing handling time but I finally was so stressed out about the delayed mail issues (since about the beginning of July) that I changed mine to 3 days to give an extra cushion for the delayed packages.
I guess you just have to be creative and flexible during this USPS "crisis"

you could always complain and get worse service,if you make an issue out of it it, it may not end well
I take all of my packages to the post office and drop them in the bin, that way they get the 1st scan skipped and I can have my buyers wonder whats up.
I could never rely on a carrier pickup,I gies i`m just a nervous nellie but I never woryy about the 1st scan, just drop and go,no waiting in line for me
ebay has taken car of all my lates like they said they would
keep on selling

I have the same exact problem. No pickups and sometimes no mail delivery at all or very late delivery like 7-8 pm. And when I can catch the mail carrier my mail isn’t being scanned in. Took over a month for a very understanding customer to receive her package. We had no way to track it. Took 2 weeks just to go an hour and a half away. I no longer request pickup (mail carrier actually claimed it was picked up, they get credit for these). I now personally bring all my packages to the PO and make sure each one is scanned in. Its not an easy task but for now it has to be done. Good luck...

Thanks - I cannot deliver to post office and this is only an occasional problem - usually when my regular carrier is off - but with 4 packages I'm concerned.

I understand. I noticed that my mail carriers were coming later and later. My mail used to be picked up by 10 a.m. Now I never know. I also noticed that some of my mail wasn't being scanned the day I dropped them off. Now if they haven't arrived by 4 p.m. I drive over there and drop them off. I make sure it's before 5 p.m. to get them scanned and increased my handling time by another day

Thanks for your message.
I just really hate it when you try so hard to do things the right way and something like this happens.
Hope for best!

They are dismantling the big USPS sorting machines. Million dollar machines. They are junking them. Actually putting them in the garbage. I heard yesterday that they dismantled 10 in Michigan ... and this is after they said they would stop. They also said they would stop removing mailboxes. I would put a chain on your local boxes. You can't believe them. You know Trump put a guy in charge that has 75 million in investments in companies that compete with USPS and Trump wants to affect mail in voting. This is ON PURPOSE. No one is trying to fix anything or make USPS better. This affects Ebay sellers and all sellers who sell online, which is a lot during this pandemic. It will affect your economy because International sellers will avoid the US because they don’t want to deal with your problems with your politics messing up THEIR mail. I’m Canadian, I am definitely getting more orders from Europe now. They have already started to avoid US sellers from what I see. This affects your pocketbook, but think of the Veterans who get their prescriptions delivered by USPS. What if if is heart medication? What is it is for serious pain? What if it is responsible for keeping them alive? How cruel!

I have friends that work for PO and they tell me 95% of employees are lazy and don't work and cant fire them bc they're unionized. I had a carrier several years ago that cursed out customers delivered medication to wrong house constantly and when you would hand it back to him he would just add to the mail your neighbor was getting even though it didnt belong to neighbor. We would get mail at 9-10 pm at night or like 8 am next morning. I tried reporting them to postmaster general even did a petition and was told by the boss they dont fire anyone.
As far as Trump goes- the PO has been mismanaged for years. Part of reason they in the shape they are in has to do with a dem plan that passed prior to his admin that said they had to pay full pensions within certain amt of time and it was pushed forward instead of being paid later. Trump doesnt want mail in voting bc a) the union workers handling ballots are prim Dem and have been countless cases of postal workers recently who dumped trump ballots in creeks etc. Absentee ballots are one thing- but to mail ballots to everyone who is on roll and not expect fraud is not realistic. They are trying to fix usps and privatize it which would make it better and more efficient and not hemorrage money as they have been doing.
I had 11 in one day that were in my mailbox that never got scanned- upon customer alerting me i went in and put in research requests with po to try and figure out where they are- amazing they found them all within 24 hours but unfortunately it was after the deadline for them even though mine was on time. i plan on checking 24 hours after its picked up now and if no scan go in and file a research claim with po to try and get them on time. Mine now has scans and says research usps but still showing dinged.

Your statement about how "Dems: messed up the PO is incorrect, that would be Republicans.

Democrats have wanted to undo this profunding requirement for years but there is always too much Republican resistance, the end goal is for Republicans is to yes, to privitize the post office. Yes, it'll be so much better when when USPS is privatized and their first class packages are in line with UPS/Fedex $15 for a 4oz package. That's exactly where they are headed. So if that's what you mean by better I guess you're right. Imo congress should just give them the funding they need, it's a government service not a business, it's first goal shouldn't be to turn a profit. I'd rather USPS run a deficit and get decent service like we had pre 2017 than the total hot garbage we get now. We run deficits fighting endless, useless wars but yeah screw USPS, they're just a vital service millions of people depend on, who cares?
