Hi - I sent out 3 Priority packages this morning, took to post office, waited & got tracking scanned, have postal paper receipt. Now 2 of the packages are showing the acceptance scan as well as already being at a sort facility, whilst the 3rd one isn't even showing the acceptance scan at the post office. Yes it is insured, that's not the point, I have provided tracking to buyer which now shows like I haven't even shipped it. So my only proof is the paper postal receipt I have. Why would 2 show everything normal, a-okay, & the third showing at USPS.com (not just the eBay tracking) that "label created" USPS awaiting item & nothing else? Is anyone else having this problem today or within last couple days or ???? I also wonder if it ends up in the land of the lost packages (never scans just disappears) if my paper postal receipt will provide for package insurance validity? Any help appreciated.

The issue you are experiencing with USPS is just one more example of the incompetence that USPS Tracking exhibits all too often.
I shipped a package on 10/18/17 bound for Australia. I dropped it off at our local Post Office, got it scanned in, and was given the acceptance receipt. Now, 11 days later, the tracking on the USPS site shows only the acceptance scan followed by 3 consecutive "updates" -- one day apart from 10/19 thru 10/21. All 3 indicate only "In transit to destination" with the same time stamp of 9:08am and no location indicated. There have been no further updates or scans since 10/21/17.
I'm beginning to think that the item, very well packed in a heavy-duty double-wall corrugated box and sealed with multiple layers of 3M packing tape well-burnished down to prevent peeling, was either damaged so severely that it cannot be forwarded to its destination (i.e., processed by the USPS PDU -- a secret internal department at USPS called the Package Destruction Unit) or it was processed by the USPS PTU (Package Theft Unit) -- i.e., stolen by a postal worker.
The package was 26"x13"x8" and weighed about 8 pounds -- too large to simply vanish in a puff of blue smoke, or to disappear into the nearest mirror by magic or paranormal event. Maybe a UFO came down at the sorting facility and beamed it up for consumption by aliens who like to consume cardboard to get their daily fiber requirement...
USPS should change their name to USPDA -- US Package Disappearance Agency. After all, they seem especially good at this and are getting better and better at it every day!

A few more points regarding USPS Tracking:
1) If you doubt that black holes really exist, just visit a USPS Sorting Facility for proof positive.
2) Perhaps if this fellow were appointed to be our next Postmaster General, USPS Tracking would be improved:

Save that acceptance receipt -- it should serve as proof positive that you did ship the package in good faith. That's why I always take my USPS packages to the post office myself and wait in line to get them scanned and then get the receipt, just in case the tracking goes AWOL as it sometimes does. But if you are asked to provide that receipt to back up a claim, be sure to make a copy of it. If the insurance provider will accept the copy rather than the original, send the copy and keep the original. If they demand the original, be sure to save the copy.
Best of luck to you and I hope you appreciated the humor in my previous replies. Wish me luck too, as I'm really wound up over the apparent loss of the package I shipped recently, as mentioned in my first reply. It was insured for full value, but the item itself is quite rare and almost impossible to replace. The buyer was really looking forward to receiving it, and I hate to disappoint him.
Some heads need to roll at USPS...that's for sure!!!

It's probably just a delay in getting updated. You might check it in a day or so.

I appreciate you taking the time to write, always welcome all responses. Today is the same, 2 packages moving right along, other one thus far has vanished. I might add it was a very large box, not just something tiny that you may fear would fall in the cracks or off the conveyor belt or whatever. I will keep you updated , I am baffled. I pray maybe yours may show up somewhere....

Precisely!
BTW, when packages fail to get scanned on the conveyor belt, either because they are upside down or because they fell off the belt, or for whatever reason, they are supposed to be scanned manually and then proceed as usual. As has been suggested, the problem you are having may well be resolved in a few more days. But if you see tracking updates for 3 days in a row, all saying only "In transit to destination" then you have a justifiable reason for concern. I've read online that after 3 such "updates" there will often be no more and the package can be assumed to have been either:
a) lost,
b) damaged beyond being shippable any further, or
c) stolen by a postal worker.
You should then open a "Find Missing Mail" procedure on the USPS website. You'll find the link for this at the top right corner of the pulldown menu at the top of the USPS Tracking page, labeled "Help". Best to attach a photo of the missing package if you have one, or at least describe it in detail including the dimensions, so they know visually what they're looking for.
I've just done this for my missing package and also have contacted USPS Customer Service (CS) and had them open up a formal investigation case -- presumably an internal USPS procedure that is different from (and augments) a "Find Missing Mail" request, as was explained to me by the USPS CS agent.
Best of luck!

I've had packages go nearly a week without any scans, but every single one of them has surfaced eventually and been scanned. I wouldn't worry about it until it's been a week or more.

Based on the weight, I'm assuming the package was sent Priority Mail since 4lbs is the maximum allowed for first class airmail. If that is the case, it comes with insurance and usually doesn't go missing, it is probably held up in the exiting hub like Miami or wherever your area goes out of. I have had that problem and when it finally gets customs clearance it finally gets on the radar. Hope it works out...

Update: The tracking FINALLY showed up for the package, 3 scans (acceptance scan, arrival & departure scan at postal hub) showed up all at once, it hasn't been delivered, but at least it's on the radar. This one was Priority Mail. NOW all my Media Mail packages from yesterday (Monday 10/30) aren't showing up at all (been over 24 hours & they are showing nothing at USPS.com just like I described w/Priority package from Saturday). What I hate the most about these delays (and whatever is causing them) is that I ship within 1 business day, the buyer gets the tracking # when I print the label, I drive to post office, wait in line, get scans, & to the buyer it appears I never even shipped their parcel for days (which of course isn't true, but you know you have buyers that follow tracking immediately & may think the fact that nothing is showing up in tracking on eBay or especially USPS.com, that I truly didn't ship it). Frustrating....frustrating.....frustrating. My next question is when this happens, I am a top rated seller & get discount on final value fees for my 1-day shipping/30 day return policy. The shipment is tracked by the eBay system as part of the TRS discount program, & these scans aren't registering at eBay or USPS at all until days later, am I going to lose my TRS discount because the scans showing I truly did ship within 1 business day aren't showing up??? In other words am I going to suffer because of this, I don't want to lose my 10% TRS discount because USPS tracking system is dysfunctional. 10% final value fee discount ain't much but better than nothing & I work hard to maintain this.
