Anyone else having problems with USPS tracking? 3 so far this week. First concerned a Georgia buyer - tracking said her package was in her home state WHILE BEING IN MASSACHUSETTS AT THE EXACT SAME TIME! Second concerned an Indianapolis buyer - her package has been floating around that city for almost a week. Third concerned a package which, according to tracking, never left its origin post office (people working there said it wasn't at the origin) - it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. USPS tracking is like a surreal episode of The Twilight Zone. Never seen anything this bad. Thanks for listening.

I'm not sure how you opened two Trace reports on a single tracking number. They usually don't allow that, at least not in my experience. Are you sure it was a Trace Report that you filed twice?

I recommend you go back to PO and ask for supervisor and request a internal tracking scan and photo shot of packages . then ask for district customer affairs phone number not the 1-800.

Not sure about your response. Did you mean it for someone else?

Yes! I had a package that was held up for 2 weeks going to Missouri. The tracking was not updated for 3 days, saying it had not left my local PO, then it was recorded arriving in St Louis, then out for delivery, then delayed, then back arrived at St Louis, then no update. I kept my buyer updated, but no answer. Finally received positive feedback that it arrived in excellent condition, although a very slow journey. Having trouble with my own packages as well. I had an order that was in 2 boxes, one came in on schedule, the other never arrived. After one week I received notice that it had been marked as undeliverable by carrier and was issued a refund. No explanation of what happened.

Thank you all for your input! Very useful. The package that was stuck in its Connecticut origin city for approx 5 days miraculously appeared in Florida (destination). Surreal. And for my Indianapolis buyer, well, her package is still swimming around Indy. Hope she gets it by memorial Day - it's only March....

Go to the PO you use and request a internal tracking scan and photo shot.

Hi, a buyer here and occasional seller. Yes, I’ve had some issues with tracking returns. One return got to the customer (I got the refund) or the original sales person but the tracking says it still somewhere in New Hampshire. I’m currently trying to track two other orders that have been shipped but the text notification never arrives. It’s like the webpage doesn’t go anywhere. When I get to the tab at the bottom of the page or the button after signing up for the text notifications, nothing happens

If a buyer contacts you with a delivery issue or if the buyer opens an INR, IMHO these are the steps to take.
If an INR was opened, make sure you upload the tracking number to the INR right away.
Go to USPS website and review the detail tracking info.
On this tracking screen there is a place to file for email updates as there is movement on the tracking. Sign up for that so you get informed right away when something gets entered to the tracking.
Go and file for a TRACE, I don't recommend filing for Missing Mail just yet. The two are completely different actions. The Trace usually gets the job done quicker.

Contact your buyer. Keep all contact inside the INR filed so everything is recorded on the claim. Let your buyer know you are working with USPS to get their package delivered. Apologize for the delay. And let them know you filed a trace which takes between 48-72 hours for USPS to respond. As you get any information you will update the buyer right away. Assure your buyer that you are working this problem and will continue to do so until a proper resolution.
If there is movement on the tracking within the last 7 days, Ebay will keep the INR open. Do not voluntarily issue the refund yet. It is highly likely the package is going to get delivered, it is just late. Annoying for the buyer for sure. Just stay in touch with them and assure them you are working on a resolution.
