Just got my first label adjustment for supposedly insufficient postage. The USPS says I used a LARGE Flat Rate box instead of the MEDIUM Flat Rate box I paid for using ebay shipping. It was to ship 13 magazines, about 1/4" thick each. That's just over a 3" pile. They fit nicely in a side-loading MEDIUM box, which is 4" wide, and that is what I used. How am I supposed to "prove" what box I used? I could ask the buyer if he still has it, and maybe could take a photo, but that doesn't sound like the right thing to do to dispute the $4.65 difference they are charging me. Maybe I have to photograph every package now, as proactive proof.

eBay has its on APV adjustment appeal process for this type of thing.
Go here https://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng
And follow the directions.
Just state plainly that you used a Medium Box, not a Large. USPS should be able to double check the APV measurements and images that they have in their system.

When this adjustment thing started, I received a warning from the USPS telling me I had used the wrong box but were not going to take any action. I was totally convinced they had it wrong. I emailed and got someone who sent me a number to call. However before I called, I got another order and when I went to pull out what I thought was a large flat rate box, it turned out for the last several orders I had been using the large mailing box which is bigger and not flat rate.
Apparently very high tech computers can "see" the boxes, so the chances of of an error on the part of the USPS is very slim. I suggest you check your boxes again. See if you can if the same amount of magazines can fit in a medium size box.

That post says they got a charge for Shipping in a regional B & paying an A box rate.
They shipped in the A box & posted this
A call to USPS, they told me it is a BUG! They’ve had a lot of calls about it this morning.

stamps.com
No bugs, no glitches, no errors and it works when I need it, every single time.
They used to offer a free program for Ebay sellers, I'm not sure if they do anymore. The online link I find doesn't work. I suppose one could call and ask about it.

Thank you for pointing this out. I just had the same thing happen to me. $10.23 was deducted from my PayPal with no explanation and Ebay's email explaining charge was delayed 2 days. The email gives info necessary for the dispute. The second paragraph is troubling in light of recent PP glitch and since the charge was already deducted:
Cost Adjustments for Shipping Labels
The US Postal Service has let us know that some of your recent shipping labels required a cost adjustment. That means you paid too much or too little for the actual cost of shipping. You can see some of your adjustments below or view all shipping label cost adjustments in your eBay account.
We’ve attempted to charge or credit your account. If we were unable to successfully charge your account, you may see the charge on your invoice.
What you need to get right when shipping your item:
If you think these adjustments are incorrect, you can contact USPS Customer Care at 1-844-819-5187 or verifypostagehelp@usps.gov to open a dispute. USPS will respond within 5-15 business days.

I can see how you could confuse those 2 boxes. Roughly the same, just one is a couple of inches taller. I thought about that possibility, but my memory is very clear on this particular shipment. Lately, it's pretty clear on EVERY shipment, there are so few. I mostly use Regional A boxes, kind of my standard thing. I remember thinking how big the Medium Flat Rate box seems by comparison. Took a lot of extra padding to fill it. And it had to be the side-loading, because magazines won't fit in a top-loading Medium. So it would be hard to confuse a top-loading Large with a side-loading Medium. I checked the dimensions of the ACTUAL reported box used in their adjustment, and it was 15x12x4, same as the Medium Flat Rate side-loader. There is a side-loading Large box, the size of board games. It's huge, so not going to be that one, either. You'd remember handing THAT to the carrier.

It doesn’t matter who you buy the label from though so using stamps.com won’t stop this from happening. It’s the USPS APVS system that apparently has the bug.

Thanks for pointing that thread out, and passing the word along that it's a bug. I submitted my email about the dispute, and will see how that goes. Maybe, in the meantime, there will be a mass message about the bug saying that these false reports will be corrected and the charge reversed. It never hurts to dream. As a last resort, I can file a PayPal dispute on the charge.

Thanks for the link. How did you arrive at that specific page? I have a Shipping Labels page on Seller Hub
https://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=LabelManagement , but it doesn't present the APV section that your link shows. Yours also shows thumbnails of the items, which is really helpful. Mine doesn't. I must have an "improved eBay page". I saved your link to my bookmarks bar.

You can't get there from here 🙂
I don't have it anywhere from my eBay, seller hub or anywhere else 😞
The link was provided in a post from eBay when they first announced APV adjustments and I bookmarked it then.

Just a follow-up on the Label Adjustment. I sent an email inquiry in on Aug. 22nd. USPS responded by email on Sept. 5th that my inquiry was entered into the system and would be investigated. I received a refund Sept. 6th. So all worked out ok. Thanks to all who volunteered help.

Did you get charged again for new packages?
This is annoying, I've been hit by a few overcharged packages as well, I think someone will start a lawsuit if USPS doesn't corret this bug soon.
