USPS Priority Mail not working

I just sold seven items last Thursday...packed them up and took them to my USPS office here in NH and sent them "Priority Mail". When I attempted to track them I discovered that tracking is no longer working - when I attempt to check on transit I get the message: "Alert: Due to limited transportation availability as a result of nationwide COVID-19 impacts, package delivery times may be extended."  No idea where they are...no idea when they'll be delivered. I suggest using FedEx "Home Delivery" instead.

USPS tracking still works. You're not allowed to post tracking numbers here for privacy reasons, but you can go to your local post office and ask for help tracking.

You did upload the tracking numbers to the eBay transactions, correct?

Not every post office scans packages when they are dropped off. The package will end up showing in the tracking system. Sometimes it doesn't show until it is scanned as delivered. Priority mail does not come with a guaranteed delivery date. If you are that worried about it, open a case online with the USPS.

All the carriers are short handed and having delays. If you chose FedEx that's up to you. I for one avoid FedEx deliveries like the plague, WAY too much damage and lost packages here in the middle of rural Ohio.

Hints for getting tracking during this. Print a scan form, they must be scanned, watch your label placement, If you have a wrinkle or the info is over a junction of box flaps this can necessitate physical human manipulation  to get a scanner read, sign up for text updates, this often will poke the system.

USPS Priority Mail not working

NO shipping method is working properly right now. I purchased something at the end of May to be delivered to my residential Paypal address that was shipped overnight via UPS and the tracking shows it was delivered on the 1st and left at the front desk. I do not know what front desk. I have emailed the seller without response but am trying to be a bit patient because as a seller I am having the same issues. I have a package that I sent via Fedex from Fort Worth, TX to MI on June 3 @1:25pm and at 4:43 pm the tracking showed as delivered to Fort Worth. I have been over to Fedex several times and finally the item showed up with an additional tracking number (only by going directly into the fedex website) showing it was moving through the system. The buyer send me an email with an article about this particular hub which states Fedex has been holding packages there for weeks, even months. I am at a loss, It's only been a week but the buyer wants her money back for an item that is on its way. The item was scanned into this location on 6/6 and everyday is scanned again still at this hub with delivery pending. Now, USPS has a package that was sent on the 1st and shows still in transit to the next location with the last scan on the 4th. Buyer never contacted me just opened a claim. I see this as being a huge issue for sellers because we shipped it, provided tracking but with Covid-19 and now protests and riots all delivery companies seem to be near stand still.

USPS Priority Mail not working

A short follow-up to my original message - it's now been 7 days since dropping off seven packages for USPS Priority Mail shipping. Tracking shows that only one of them has yet to leave New Hampshire where it was posted. The other six are still in New Hampshire - somewhere, tracking doesn't say exactly where. I've been very fortunate up to now with Priority Mail but be aware that it could take a lot longer for your shipments to get to customers.

USPS Priority Mail not working

I'm a buyer with a package not moving for several days in Akron (that has me extremely worried due to fragility of the item), and a few months back, I had a Tennessee shipment take 14 days for priority. Half the plants didn't make it, but the seller was cool. Most of the time, packages are moving though steadily but very, very slowly. Sometimes they are sent to the wrong state or town causing more delays, and some go across the country a couple of times before making it here. A handful of things we've bought from this venue and others are taking up to two weeks for priority, but usually right around ten days. It's time for eBay to send out an alert and place a notice on auctions explaining that the USPS isn't reliable right now.  I dread the number of sellers who are going to end up in trouble over something beyond their control.

Unfortunately, I can't trust Fedex either. They've been misplacing packages, misdelivering, lying to make up reasons for things being late, and they even caused one of my shipments to be stuck eternally at the Fedex hub. When the shipper sent my item, Fedex decided they didn't like the shipping label's UPC code. They printed another and put it on the box. Four hours later, they marked the item undeliverable due to having too many labels on it. *grumble* I don't think any shipping service is working correctly right now.

Good luck, and may you have understanding buyers. The key is to stay in communication and not let them feel like they're alone in the frustration. They might have short fuses because it's very frustrating and worrisome, but most folks just want to know the seller has their back if the item doesn't arrive or is messed up when they get it. I've only had one seller do that to me when the package was actually completely lost and not in the system for a month. Everyone else has been really good about contacting their post office and trying to get answers.

I was told that the key to getting packages unstuck is to have the seller contact the post office if it hasn't ever shown up in the system and talk to a manager and to sign up for tracking info through email and text. There's a GPS on everything, so eventually things get found. Some of these hubs are having problems getting employees to process the mail that can't go through the machine.  I've also heard the new machines don't take every size of usps priority box now.

Hopefully you guys haven't lost packages in the protests. I've heard most of the packages lost were on UPS trucks though.

Just an FYI, check out the reddit board usps_complaints. Looks like this is system wide.

The same machines sort packages up to USPS size limits. Most (excluding the old Regional Rate C box) Priority boxes are under 1 cubic foot, plenty of wiggle room to accommodate different sized packages.

Yes ones that need an actual human to manipulate them to sort are moving slow due to USPS like all carriers being short handed.

The shipping world has changed and ebay needs to change what they are doing. For the last 4-5 months due to Covid-19  staff shortages, and post office removal of sorting machines the time a package is in transit has been taking 2-4 times longer.

Buyers have figured out that they can get the product for free by demanding a refund because transit times then waiting for free product when it is delivered.

As a 19 year ebay seller In the last 2 weeks I am out $1000 and the product and shipping is gone and we have Never have had this type of a problem before but we are forced to eat it.

One buyer admitted to leaving out the apartment number yet they gave him the $100 back.

Ebay needs to adjust their time line for a product to arrive. The world has changed and it is taking longer.

Even Amazon prime is not arriving in 1-2 days like usual it now takes some orders a week +
