USPS First Class Large Envelope

I have some 8 x 10 photos and some comic books that I want to ship first class to avoid the higher cost of Priority.

It is my understanding that ebay requires tracking on shipping labels printed from ebay.  I can ship a photo first class for a little over $1 without tracking.  The items are cheap ($5 and under), so I can't have high shipping prices.

Ebay is making Pay Pal hold my funds until tracking shows my product arrives.  I think this is because I am pretty new to ebay.

How will I get paid if I take a large envelope to the post office and pay $1.30 if ebay doesn't have tracking loaded?

Re: USPS First Class Large Envelope

If your funds are being held and there is no tracking, I believe that you have to wait 21 days after the purchase before the funds are released.

Edit...I just found the following. You would probably be able to get the funds 6 days after the last deliver estimated date.

  • 6 days after the latest estimated delivery date if you don’t upload tracking information, but you mark the item as shipped in My eBay .
  • 21 days after the buyer pays if you don't provide tracking information, mark the item as shipped, or the estimated delivery date can't be calculated. In such cases, we may use buyer feedback as a delivery confirmation along with other factors.

Re: USPS First Class Large Envelope

As noted in the other post, the funds will be held about a week; not the full 21 days.

Re: USPS First Class Large Envelope

Great - thanks for the help

I think I will start with one 8 x 10 photo ship in a large first class envelope at the post office and see how it goes.  I will just add $1 to the sales price and pay the shipping since ebay wont estimate it correctly.  OR I guess I could as for $1 or $1.50 flat shipping paid by the buyer.

Thanks again

Re: USPS First Class Large Envelope

eBay's shipping calculator for USPS postage is 99.99% accurate. If you set up calculated shipping and choose "Large envelope" in the menu for package type, then it will charge the correct exact postage cost. Or you can look it up and enter a flat price for shipping.

Postage for a flat (AKA Large envelope) starts at $1.00 for the first ounce, then each additional ounce is another 20 cents.
