I am getting a few packages out of a batch that do not get the initial scan from USPS. Others in the same batch get scanned and delievered. USPS is apparently in a real mess.
How can sellers be held responsible when USPS fails in their service and eBay actually supplies the USPS service and charges commission on the shipping costs.
My funds are held in pending when a buyer puts in an Item Not Received request - all happening on these unscanned packages. This is totally out of seller control. I can prove my deliveries to the Postal pickup as I book the delivery, and can show that parts of the delivery were scanned and others not. Some items even delivered.
Now I take photos of the packages before I give them to the carrier.
eBay says get a detailed delivery sheet from USPS, but you cannot do that on the eBay site when you purchase labels. If you buy your labels on USPS and pay full price you can get the list. However if as I do, include shipping in the cost, you get hit for commission on the shipping cost, plus full cost. Big losses there.
Time for eBay to take USPS to task and do something about this failure to scan the packages.

Question #1 - are you looking at eBay for the tracking or are you looking directly on the USPS site? I have found eBay to often be behind the USPS in posting tracking.
Question #2 - are you requesting carrier pickup service or are you just leaving the items in your mailbox?
Question #3 - do you use a scan sheet when you have multiple packages?
Question #4 - are you in a rural area or in a city? I have been told rural carriers do not have to scan if circumstances are not safe. I have also been told they do not have to scan every package, there is a limit which is why using a scan sheet is better.
The mail carriers are unionized. Unless the contract is changed, failing to scan a package or packages is probably not a reason to fire someone. At one time, we had a mail carrier who could not deliver the mail to the correct address, would deliver mail to us that he had picked up earlier in the route and was supposed to go the the Post Office and not stuck in someones mailbox, his fellow post office personnel didn't want to work with him in the back room, he was 'trained' at least twice and it took ONE YEAR and hundreds (yes literally hundreds) of complaints for a compromise and he was retired early for health reasons.

I kill myself at this...and ship Daily. 3 recent packages I put in USPS drop box were NOT scanned for 2 weeks! Cases were opened, I was forced to refund..and I'm sure my customers think I never shipped ..2 weeks later, hmmm, both just delivered!!! And NOONE at USPS will be held accountable for their incompetence. I am now out $100 and I have no items!! VERY FRUSTRATED
