I measured and weighed an item precisely like I always do and chose the eBay UPS option. The item has already arrived to the buyer a day or two ago, and today I get an invoice on eBay saying I owe UPS $24 more dollars? Also has happened with another UPS packaged I shipped this week as well. Has anyone else dealt with this before? I switched to doing more UPS packages cause shipping bigger items through them was a little cheaper than USPS, and was hoping they’d have better service.
I can’t really fight this bill can I? Or at least get the details/ask them to provide proof? Idk how I’d go about that either since the charge was by UPS through ebay
Thanks in advance!

#1..ALWAYS get a drop off receipt with the weight clearly shown on it from the drop off store. UPS is easy to get that, FedEx you have to fight them a little sometimes Ask for a manager and tell them to push "F8" and "update weight"....a lot of the sales clerks have no idea how to to show the weight on the receipt. why this is not standard to show on a drop off receipt is beyond me and only has one explanation....
#2....ALWAYS contact Ebay when this happens and fight it. Do not let them tell you they will file a claim and get back to you.....they won't. Offer to email them your drop off receipt with the weight clearly shown. Legally they have to show you why they are demanding more money...they cannot so they will usually refund you on the spot as a "courtesy".
All this is assuming you just did not make a mistake on the weight or dims. DO NOT let anyone tell you its "dimensional weight"....that is ridiculous considering we put in the dimensions and weight. If their program is too stupid to figure it out then that's on them.

I can't figure out how you had a price as low as 5.21 to ship something via UPS Ground. The cheapest I can see is $7.40.
If you tell us the scale weight, dimensions, origin zip, and destination zip, perhaps some of us can help you understand the price.

All the shippers have started doing that. Still Fedex does it the most and USPS the least with UPS in the middle. Us sellers are being "milked " dry.

Currently searching for the original package info.
I’ve been charged $35 for a package I think was probably a small/medium 3 pound package. A top that I just realized this is an old package that delivered on may 9th and I’m just now getting this charge.
The two charges shown are the additional charges to what I already paid.
Measured everything precisely and always add a higher measurement for dimensions and weight to overcompensate just in case.
eBay gave me the price when I put the correct info+overcompensation, but yet here I am getting this charge.
This has happened once or twice in the past and it wasn’t a high enough price for me to care, but this one is concerning to me.
Especially if it means I need to take pictures of all my measurements and weights to protect my self it equals it’s a lot more work in the long run.
I read somewhere someone was taking photos of the package info to protect themselves from this.

to add to this, FedEx has been glitching for months. Make sure to read any email from eBay very carefully... you'll notice the "billable weight" and the "weight on label" are listed in two separate units (pounds and ounces, respectively). Do a little quick math: oz / 16, and you can see sometimes FedEx charges you for packages that you paid the appropriate amount. A more specific example: your label is printed for 15 lb, they weigh the item at 14.3 lb, then they bill you for "overages". Been getting these off and on for months.

This would make sense as the cause for my situation, since I already round up in dimensions and weight. Though it seems oftentimes as well both UPS and usps automatically round up when you give them a weight. I haven’t shipped much with FedEx, but in your particular case have you attempted to get the money back they’re charging you?

FedEx dinged me over and over to the point, I stopped using them. I have always been very accurate in my measurements (rounding up) and weight. So far, they have passed muster UPS and USPS, but I will never use FedEx again.

You can take photos until the cows come home. Doubtful if it would have any bearing on the outcome.
You know you inputted the correct info. UPS has "surcharged" or "glitched".

Thanks for the detailed feed back! I’ve let myself be so annoyed that I forgot the fact that I have been saving drop off receipts.
And I mentioned in my other comment that I realized the package actually delivered to the buyer almost a month ago, so I definitely have a case.
Any suggestion on what email or number I should contact to fight it?

The last few times they've refunded it but this time is taking a bit longer so I'm skeptical. The difference is the last few times it was a widely known system-wide glitch and this time it's an isolated issue so I don't really have anyone on my side advocating, whereas it was easier for eBay to go after FedEx last time because it was so widespread. Have already had to call eBay twice to initiate a dispute over the charges with FedEx. We'll see what happens!
One thing worth noting also is if anyone uses the app and enter decimals it rounds down even if it's given a half pound like 1.5, for example. Generally speaking, ".5" should round up, but not the case here. That one got me a couple of times before I realized what was going on. The website doesn't allow the seller to enter decimals and the app shouldn't either.

There really is no separate number to call, you just have to keep using the chat until you get them to call you. I have never used the social media contacts, but people say they have better luck getting resolutions that way. You might try that. All I can tell you is that if you get off the phone without them actually crediting you the money right then, you are 99.8% guaranteed you wont get one. Keep calling them and wasting their resources until they relent....that is my theory anyway.
