UPS Shipping Labels Through eBay = SCAM

With the USPS slowdown upsetting customers, we moved most of our Priority volume to UPS

Somehow eBay gets better rates on 1-2 lb residential deliveries than we can get directly, so we ran a few small parcels through eBay's UPS system.

BIG mistake.  UPS is now coming back and inexplicably charging HEFTY FEES on these packages.  They look like address correction fees - $18-$19 per box.  We verify all addresses against UPS's validation system (because ebay does not).

There is no explanation for the fees.  They just appear.  CS is clueless, calling them is worthless - they'll "file a dispute" - the overseas rep gave me the US POSTAL SERVICE PHONE NUMBER to contact UPS!

Here's an example, these are two separate charges for the SAME label purchase:

Ebay quoted this label at $8.12.  That amount is shown on our shipping labels page.  It was a 6x6x4 parcel, less than 1 lb., going to a clean residential address in a normal area not that far away from us.  The tracking history is uneventful - just a normal delivery.

Now they're charging $27.77???

The real kicker - the label was purchased on 12/28 - how can ebay charge us $19.65 on 12/26 for a label that wasn't even created until 12/28?

You are aware that eBay charge you for UPS and FedEx labels after the item is shipped right? On your monthly invoice, not when you print the label. Just want to confirm that cause your example is vague.

FedEx does the same. I was charged about $5 more than the price I thought I was paying for each FedEx item I shipped in December. Yes my weight and dimensions were correct at the time I purchased the postage but, the invoiced amount was more. Just be aware.

When you get billed it's from a previous package. Bill is AFTER delivery. Not from that date. You need to look at what was actually shipped and the cost may make more sense.

Yes.  For the example package, eBay quoted $8.12.  We ran that label on 12/28 based on that pricing.  The parcel has long since been delivered.

The screen cap is of the invoice - it shows the $8.12 charge on 12/28.

It also shows a $19.65 UPS label charge for the same sale on 12/26.

The 12/28 sale was the first time we ever purchased a UPS label through this eBay account.

We do significant volume through UPS and have negotiated rates with them that beat eBay's rates on anything but residential 1-2 Lb.   The USPS slowdown forced us to switch all of our Priority volume to UPS to avoid having flipping mad customers.

Ebay advertised a rate, we trusted it to be accurate.  Once again, we're left holding the bag.

Re: UPS Shipping Labels Through eBay = SCAM

I have just checked my invoice for December through mid January and find UPS charges substantially higher than the quoted rate on ebay. I have found several double charges for the same package from UPS. It appears that either ebay or UPS are cheating us sellers. Calling customer service and speaking to someone with a heavy accent is frustrating at best. She told me she was filling a dispute, I think as I had to ask her everytime to repeat herself. Hey ebay quit cheating us and hire Americans the sellers are why ebay exists.

Re: UPS Shipping Labels Through eBay = SCAM

That's hard to believe that everything I ship on eBay has a bad address, cause I'm getting 15 to 18 dollars per shipment extra at billing, --------------------------There are a lot of experts out there who are saying there are dimensional surcharges, well if I measure & weight  a package correctly, then where does the dimensional surcharge come from, that's confusing me, what I'm saying is if all is done correctly Why is it not factored in at point that I purchase my label, says I got a 6"x6"x48" package that weighs 11lbs. Why can't I get an up front price on that? What could possibly cause the price at billing to go up, if it is measured and weighed correctly?
