Canadian Seller here: I need advice. I sold a $1000 item. Due to its size and weight I needed to ship with UPS not Canada Post to the ebay global shipping hub in Mississauga. I have tracking on the package, it is currently at a UPS access point location for pickup when it should have just been sent on the hub. Its currently sitting in Burlington right now. I have called UPS for them to tell me that they will take it to the hub asap and still do nothing. My buyer has opened a case since it's been a month and no item. Understandable for sure but frustrating as a seller. Now not only am i out the $1000, but also the $200+ taxes I paid for the item if the claim goes through. I called ebay and updated them but now its totally up to what the buyer wants to do. I need help with this please, TIA.

Since you are in Canada, you will have more luck getting help with this if you ask on the eBay Canada community:
There are a lot of sellers who have been dealing with the eBay Canada International Shipping since it started, and with the difficulties of shipping to the USA now.

This is a common complaint due to not only the holiday seasons but also US government policies on charging tariffs. I've been have a bunch of delays with packages going internationally even into Canada. Understandably so this could be costly to you and was a risk to ship at this time. It is advise to reconsider selling high valued items on Ebay for varies of reason this being one of them.

In a nutshell, once the buyer has filed a case for non-delivery, you can't get the toothpaste back in the tube. I would be focused on getting the item returned to me and refunding the buyer, not necessarily in that order.
I'm confused about your statement that you paid $200+ "in taxes," though. Do you mean eBay fees?
At any rate, you're better off posting your question to the eBay Canada Seller Central board, @rewi-66.

I suspect that whatever UPS error brought the shipment across the border to Burlington made it impossible for anyone you have contacted to have it shipped back to Canada to reach the hub.
When I had daily pickups from UPS. I had a contact at UPS who could deal with the screwups that the folks on their 800 number could not.
There is no Ebay role in this problem. It is solely between you and UPS.
You might see if your UPS driver can provide you with a manager at UPS who could work internally to help you, but if you rarely use UPS its unlikely you can contact your driver.

@tobaccocardyahoo, this is a post about the recently rolled-out Canadian version of eIS and I believe the OP is referring to Burlington, Ontario, a suburb of Hamilton which is about a 15-20 minute drive from the Canadian eIS hub in Mississauga, Ontario.
My understanding is that for whatever reason (perhaps a wrong keystroke somewhere), the item the OP sent off ended up at a UPS access point in Burlington rather than shipped directly to the hub in Mississauga.

Burlington is in Ontario, and is adjacent to Mississauga where the eIS Canada hub is located.
I agree that the problem is with UPS, not with eBay or eIS.
It is common for UPS to have a drop off location rather than a driver pickup, sometimes those locations are inside another business. We have a nearby shop that take dry cleaning and courier pickups, sends faxes, shreds documents , makes photocopies and sells stationery located between the pet store and a Dairy Queen.

Thanks for the info, i thought i was in the Canadian group LOL. Thanks for pointing that out!

i bought the item at a store so i had to pay HST and GST which is 13% on the inital purchase cost of $200. so another $26.

correct! Thank you for clarifying!

would I be able to find out that exact location? it just says Burlington on tracking with no pictures or anything. I opened a "lost" package claim with UPS today.

Why not google UPS Burlington and start phoning the location(s)?
Old school often works.
There are 13 locations listed so it might take an hour or so to find the right one.

This page may make it a bit easier:

Check the eBay buyer ID country in their feedback section...are we talking Canada, USA or another country?
I check the country of the buyer first...then the address of where it is going.
This could be a 'freight forward' to another country overseas.
Just a thought here.

That’s a pretty wild thought.
This thread is about a Canadian seller who shipped an item by UPS to the Canadian eIS hub (such a thing exists now) only to have it directed to a UPS Access Point located about 20 minutes away from the hub to be somehow picked up by a Canadian eIS worker.
