Trying to return item purchased by credit card-return item button does not work.

Seller sent me the ok to return item and print label.  After I complete form and hit "Request a return" it gives me an error code to contact PayPal.  I did not pay thru Paypal.  The seller offered direct pay by credit card, which I used.  I have tried to get a label multiple times and it is not working.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?

@bbar7633-mvdhosoou I would contact PayPal and ask! 

PayPal also processes the credit card option in a sale unless the seller has his own merchant account.

File a chargeback. If you didn’t pay with PayPal then you don’t qualify for PayPal buyer protection.

So then the seller just loses the item?

@bbar7633-mvdhosoou Contact PayPal...they should be able to tell you what is causing the error code and how to proceed.

Good point. The OP can still return the item though. But chargeback is bad advice, my bad. I was confused, forgot this involved returning an item!

You said that the seller offered direct payment by credit card so when you paid, was it through the eBay checkout system? If you did pay through eBay checkout then ignore the rest of my post..but if not, that could be why you get the error message.  eBay doesn’t offer the mbg for an item not paid through eBay checkout probably  because they don’t have access to the money so a return would probably not work either. But if the seller has their own cc merchant account, they can credit your card through that.  They would have to send you a return label another way...not through eBay returns.
