Trying to list calculated shipping cost for item that weighs 39 pounds

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am listing an item that weighs 39 pounds and want to use the calculated shipping chart.  Each time I enter the dimensions and weight, the only chart that comes up is the Expedited rate, which is only for the pre-paid USPS boxes.  How do I enter this correctly so that I get the Economy chart?  I am entering Calculated: rate by location; the dimensions of the package are 36 inches x 36 inches x 20 inches and the weight is 39 pounds.  This is not working.  Can somebody help me?

eBay uses the term "expedited" to describe services that deliver in 2 - 3 days, such as USPS Priority Mail.  But you can ship via USPS Priority Mail in any box you have on hand.

eBay uses the term "economy" to describe slower services, including USPS Retail Ground and its online equivalent, Parcel Select Ground. You should be able to choose those services when setting up your listing.

The length-plus-girth of your package is 148 inches, so it is far too big to ship via Priority Mail which has a limit of 108 inches. Via Retail Ground or Parcel Select, it would ship at the oversize rate.

Isn't the maximum length plus girth for Retail Ground and Parcel Select 130 inches?

Of course it is!  I even mentioned that limit in her other thread. Good grief, what was I thinking?  Well, that explains everything.  The shipping calculator will show the flat rate boxes as an option for any dimensions, since it only looks at the package weight.

Re: Trying to list calculated shipping cost for item that weighs 39 pounds

As the others have pointed out, that package can not be shipped using any USPS service - it is far too big.

FedEx Ground would ship it, but it will ship at a billable dimensional weight of 157lb, and incur an $80 Oversize surcharge on top of that.
(if label not printed through eBay, that dimensional weight becomes 187 lb) The 39lb actual weight has ZERO bearing on shipping this item.

Base rates for 157 lb range from about $85 to $110, which puts it with the oversize surcharge at very roughly approx $180 to $215 before any eBay FedEx discounts (which might be around 25%).

Should know that ebay will charge you the base rate, the oversize fee will be collected by fedex, along with the delivery service if it isn't a business vs residential. Something to consider considering the $80 oversize penalty.

U might get someone to do it cheaper on uship where they compete to ship it. It would have to be  worth a lot for me to pay 200 dollars in shipping.

What? I mostly can't make heads or tails of that response.

eBay will charge the Base Rate + OS surcharge + Res Delivery charge along with fuel surcharge based on all of them. I don't know where you are getting your information from.
