Trying to get reimbursed for out of pocket shipping cost

Hello, I've been going around and around with customer service on the phone and chat and am getting nowhere. I was late shipping an item due to a death in my family (my Dad) so when I returned the item had been purchased but a couple weeks went by and wasn't shipped yet, my bad. So, I rushed to my local post office and spent $15.99 out of pocket to get it there parcel post and sent a copy of the receipt to eBay customer service. Then had a tracking number. So, eBay refunded the buyer and they got the item shipped to them as well. I'm an eBay newbie and probably did something wrong but all I want is my $15.99 back please, it's a lot of money to me these days.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and input. Very, very much greatly appreciated.               

But....Gosh! You'd think that eBay in all of their glorious wisdom and power over the dominion that they control on high would give a newbie first timer a break! Oh, but I forgot, nobody gets a break THESE days! Especially when it's eBay and they have class action lawsuits to fend off and a multitude of mistreated, marginalized and **bleep** off customers, buyers and sellers who were unlucky enough to end up in their web of deceptive trade practices and horrible, awful and disgusting communication (or lack of it).  In other words, pretty weak guys...pretty weak eBay! In any case, I suppose that $15.99 is a small price to pay to confirm for myself that I need to stay as far away as possible from this hot mess!

When was buyer refunded?EBay will not reimburse you for shipping the item,that was your choice

You will not get your $15.99 back. Ebay does not refund for you to pay for shipping label at the post office. You will not get the item price back either. 

 

If buyer paid and you didn't ship and buyer opened a case, buyer was refunded and ebay will NOT reverse that refund nor will they pay you for any shipping you paid to ship it out 'too late'. There was a date you had to respond to the Not Received Refund Case; if that passed, it's all too late.

Yes, sorry... but if the buyer had already been refunded by eBay, there was no need to ship the item. Costly, but a lesson.

Sorry, but the buyer already paid you for the shipping when they paid.

Ebay will not pay you back, because you shipped it on your own.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad... what a horrible time!

 

To be honest, though... if you are a new seller, you have to pretty much realize Ebay will be tougher on you BECAUSE you are a new seller and more at risk of being a scammer. I hate to put it that way, but that's the truth...

 

Ebay has a commitment time for when the item is to be delivered.. and as a seller, we have handling times that we choose to ship the item out.  I know this was a difficult time, but the best thing you could have done was keep in contact with the buyer as to what was happening and just cancelled out the order.

 

If I was the buyer, if I bought an item and weeks went by, I would have wanted what I purchased, or a refund. When a buyer opens a claim for item not received, that's the choices given. If you as the seller don't reply, Ebay will close out in the buyer's favor.
