THIS MESSAGE GOT DUPLICATED..IT IS THE SAME AS THE ONE BELOW IT ON THE SHIPPING AND RETURNS FORUM. PLEASE USE THIS MESSAGE TO RESPOND AS THIS ONE IS SET TO EMAIL ME WITH ANY RESPONSES....thank you.
I've got a problem!., about 45 days ago I sent a 140.00 special edition blu-ray disc set to a customer who purchased it with "buy it now." I sent it media mail. The package has tracking on it through USPS. This week the tracking still only shows the first 2 days of shipping and nothing after that. The buyer put in a complaint and of course, won and were refunded their 140.00 which was taken out of my bank account. I put in a trace to the post office but have heard nothing. I packed this box so well I spent a half hour making sure nothing could happen to it, it was packed hard and packing tape on every inch of the box. Now I am out the 140.00. And there IS a tracking number. Am I just out of luck or will Ebay consider refunding me too, and where do I put in my complaint? I feel this is just so wrong, I did everything I was supposed to do, but I didn't insure it.

Sorry you are having a problem.
Media Mail can get severely clogged during this pandemic, and the experience you are going through is why it is risky to ship anything Media Mail right now. For just a little more, you could have sent it via a USPS service that has better on-time performance in this pandemic and/or insurance ... but ... of course, that is hindsight in your case.

As far as eBay is concerned, you are out of luck. The only recourse will be if the buyer eventually receives the DVD and kindly pays you via PayPal.

The package is either lost or severely delayed. I understand your buyer's perspective as 45 days is a very long wait. If I were you, I would put in a package intercept request with USPS ASAP and ask that the package be sent back to you. If package intercept isn't an option, if it does arrive to the buyer I would ask for an appeal with the eBay case. You have 30 days from the date of case closure to file an appeal.
In the future you can insure via a third party shipping insurance company if you don't want to risk the loss.

You are responsible if USPS loses the package. Smart sellers insure packages they don't want to pay out of their pocket if the item is lost in transit.
Due to deliveries taking more time to deliver due to the pandemic a lot of sellers have a longer handling time added to their shipping details. They offer Economy but they ship it Priority. They use whatever tools they have to make the delivery date longer but they ship fast as they can using the fastest method.
