Tracking history some how changed after item delivered to wrong address

I brought a 3d printer from a seller in Hong Kong on the 19th and they mailed it the same day, It was delivered to the wrong location some where in New Jersey on the 21st even though I live near San Francisco, so obviously I cant go get it myself. I emailed the seller telling them what happened and to either resend the item or give me a refund. After 5 days of no response, I try to contact ebay for the money back guarantee, but not allowed to do this because the tracking history changed and now its says the package is still in transit and is in Garden City, New York. 

The entire tracking history has completely changed, such as the acceptance, arrivals, departchers. I vividly remember it being different. How can USPS tracking completely change like this? If this happened on the 21st, I would think that the seller sent a new item, but says the item now departed from china on the 20th, and even then I would think they would need to create a new tracking number. Can any one shed any light on whats going on.

You should just be patient and wait to see what happens.

The postal worker in New Jersey had their scanner set on the wrong setting, and scanned it as delivered rather than accepted or received.  If this happened, you will see tracking events that are AFTER the delivery date ... and the item is indeed making progress toward you.

Happened to me few times. I think it is error in scanner or scanning or the software. Just wait.

If stuck in one place too long - filing lost mail complaint help to push it out. It could be done on usps.com

Ignore all that mess of tracking @saint0120 and on the day after the last estimated delivery date, click More action > I don't get any in your Purchase hystomy page to start a refund request.

Do not close the case no matter what your seller says. Ask eBay to step on it after 3 business days to get your item or a full refund.
