The USPS collapsed.

ebay must suspend the "Tracking uploaded on time and validated" requirement.

I was on line at the Post Office to have my packages scanned and I was told by the Clerk and a Supervisor (I guess) that "prepaid" packages will not be scanned no more by clerks and will be treated as "drop off" with late inside (?) scanning.

Carriers have been instructed not to scan packages not even the "Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice"

All of us know that (if) it will not be scanned in 2 o 3 days and sometimes only when delivered (and sometimes not),  eBay will start hitting us with "defects" for not: "Tracking uploaded on time and validated" on our performance page and (some) will lose the status of "Top Sellers" .

What is next? Our listings will go to the bottom of the barrel with No listings impressions. No more Sales.

When you click "Print your shipping label" you a message from ebay reads:  "USPS is experiencing significant delays across their delivery network. Please consider using other carrier options that may provide a better buyer experience".

Also a new announcement: "eBay Teams Up with UPS to offer New Shipping Options on its marketplace"

Let me tell you: Sellers shipping (domestic USPS with eBay Ccial discount) very light items (4 to 8 oz = $2.73 to $3.67) won't move to UPS nor FEDEX because they can't beat USPS rates for light items. No way.

Then we have no other choices than eliminate the Free Shipping or rise prices. =(less sales)

We also must to change our shipping handling times to a minimum of 3 days and still we won't be safe.

No more "Same day shipping", no more eBay Guaranteed Delivery" = (less sales)

This is an effect Domino and we are trapped.

Everything is because the Post Office has to collapse to avoid the e-mail vote in the November elections.

I'd like to hear the eBay's voice telling us that the requirement of  Tracking uploaded on time and validated has been suspended until world come back right to normal.

It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.

First question  - to you use a scan sheet when you have a large number of items?

My PO suggested using that a long time ago.  I have no problem getting my prepaids scanned over the counter.

My PO has not done carrier scans for 2 or 3 years.  Carrier pickups just go in a bin and get scanned later that night when they get to the sorting center.

Second question - is this the only PO you have available?

I have 3 with each in a different town (and a different Postmaster.  All three are scanning prepaids over the counter.  One actually encourages sellers to mail there - the higher the package count the more hours they get after evaulations.

Yes I have been trying to tell sellers to raise their prices but some are too scared it will lower their sales, guess what?

THAT'S THE POINT!!!

You need to get paid MORE so you can cover what's coming, and sell LESS to avoid overloading the USPS with all of that cheap work.

VALUE YOUR TIME.

Don't sell yourself cheap.

Or you can always struggle and suffer and call yourself a martyr, all good by me too.

This is not a universal thing. You could try using a scan sheet, or finding another post office branch.

Then we have no other choices than eliminate the Free Shipping or rise prices.

What difference would it make if a seller changed his listing to be $8 plus $2 instead of charging $10 plus $0? I fail to see what help this would be.

We also must to change our shipping handling times to a minimum of 3 days and still we won't be safe.

Some of us did that a decade ago.

Again, this is not a universal thing. All six of my selling accounts are at 100%.

Tracking means nothing to eBay.  They will still refund if tracking shows the item is in transit.  Stay safe.    🙂

Talk to the Post Master not the clerk or the "supervisor, you think"!  Clerks have this power thing sometimes.  I have had them tell me that my boxes are too small, my labels are too small, my box isn't good enough, etc. etc.  I checked with the postmaster and she came out with a box that was 1.5 x 1.5 inches and she said they have to deliver it, no matter what.

My carrier scans my items when she picks them. up.  She said they weren't doing anything different about holding mail, or no OT, etc.  Everything is normal according to her.  She's been with the PO for over 25 years.   Be extra nice to your carrier and they will help you out, and don't forget to tip them or give them a gift at Christmas even though they say  not too.  That is between me and my friend as far as I'm concerned.

Most of what you hear or read on the internet is hooy!

I haven't been told that by my post office (yet). I have been standing in line for as long as necessary in order to get my packages scanned right then and there because I know if I drop it off those packages might not get scanned until several days later and I had no "proof" that I dropped them off days before they were scanned.

Also, when I happen to be out and about I go to post offices in smaller towns and they do not have the same issues that post offices in my area (a larger city) have. I literally walk in and out of post offices in smaller towns and I'm usually the only customer or there are only 1 or 2 other customers ahead of me.

I used to make 1 or 2 (some times 3) trips a day to the post office but not anymore. Now I try to make one trip because I can't spend 1-2 hours a day standing in line at the post office. Spending that much time waiting in line is not a good use of anyone's time.

USPS is having regional problems at some of their big sorting facilities on top of whatever else is happening to them now. The suggestions to switch to another carrier is a wise decision for some people who can afford the Fed Ex rates. Personally had a nightmare  last week with lost and very late Priority Mail deliveries that I was paying EXTRA eXTRA for to get to my customers. Can not do business this way until they straighten out all their problems. UPS will be an option here as well.

@maxmawi speak to the postmaster directly.  If you get the same story, go to usps.com and file a complaint with the postmaster general (repeatedly if necessary) until they scan and collect your prepaid over the counter.

I do agree with the above recommendation to use a scan sheet whenever possible.  Ebay has promised for years now to give us the ability to print an "end of day" scan sheet but we all know how that goes.

"Carriers have been instructed not to scan packages not even the "Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice""

If you encounter this: ask for the POSTAL INSPECTOR to report this.

Definitely shop around for a PO. Mine is actually pretty good. Yes, painfully slowas each transaction seems to take forever. Open till 6 and packages dropped off right till them get scanned and move that night. They will scan anything and give receipt( i usually only do with international or high $).

Best of all open on Sunday and the packages even move on when dropped of on Sunday.

I do notice mine has been a bit busier since Covid.

Meant to add aren't you good if you print the label on eBay and the tracking is automatically added to the sale? Do they really validate the scanning on the PO side?

You can manually add tracking and marks as shipped is you ship via a non eBay integration and I assume that counts as meeting the deadline as well.

Different but related. I got dinged a couple of time because a buyer paid then aske me to ship at a later date before I could offer them to pay later. Should be somewhere for the buyer to request delayed shipping with a specific date and the clock starts.

Others have said it, but another advocate of: use the SCAN sheet.   Make sure it gets scanned.  They cannot refuse to scan in your SCAN sheet.  Or better yet, schedule a pick up, and then your carrier will scan the SCAN sheet when they pick it up.

I use ebay's bulk shipping, and I see that I can generate a SCAN sheet at the end of the day, but I print all of my labels at one time, just before going to the post office.

That isn't a bug, it is a feature. You see how Jeff Bezos made $100BN in the last 6 months during a global pandemic with 40 million unemployed but still the stock market is doing fine?

Same thing with eBay. If they can get rid of all small and medium sellers it will eliminate competition for the larger sellers. Ebay still does the same volume so it doesn't matter to them.

Sellers who do less than $1 million/mo are like the shoeshine boy who is "allowed" to loiter in front of Citibank headquarters. You are no more important than a cockroach to shareholders.
