I offer 30 day returns on all my items. I sold an expensive pair of Bose headphones and the buyer opened a return on day 30. Changed his mind. 5 plus 1 business days later and he hasnt sent them back, I message Ebay go close the return, and am told buyers now have until 30 days after opening the return to send it back. So an item I sold on February 29th I now have to wait until April 29th to close the return if they dont send it back. So the buyer gets to borrow the headphones for 2 months while I am unable to re-sell them.
Then, another buyer opened a return well after my 30 policy, purchased mid-february, and its automatically approved for some reason, to which I still cannot get an explanation

goes to show ebay does not mind playing around with someones money! I just hope when they do get it back to you that it is the right one and it still works. That is way too long of a return period for an item like that ! Good luck

Draw it back to 14 day Returns and Buyer has to pay for the Ship back to You....No More 30 Day Returns for Me...I Hope...😊...Be Safe Everyone
I was under the impression that only a few categories (e.g., Jewelry, which you are in) can still offer only 14 days of a return window. For all other categories not in the select few item categories, the minimum number of days you have to offer returns is 30.

It's not the initial return period that bothers me, it's the additional 30 days they now have to send the item back after opening a return. It used to be if they havent returned it after 5 business days of opening the return, the case could be closed.
I now have over $800 in returns that are all waiting for the buyer to ship them back, and I cant have any of them closed until May
