Systematic erroneous overcharges by UPS through eBay labels?

Golf club seller on eBay for 21 years, switched to UPS Ground since USPS charging extra $15.00 for boxes longer than 30" earlier this month. Currently dealing with UPS Ground billing nightmare with labels printed on eBay. I've been dealing with these incorrect charges on a occasional basis since the switch, but today it ramped noticeably, billed for 12 single golf club UPS Ground shipments today, 7 of the 12 shipments were billed with a $12.75 extra handling fee, but eBay can't tell me the specific reason why because UPS doesn't give that to eBay. So 7 shipments charged at essentially double the correct/quoted price and I'm on the hook for $89.25 in erroneous charges while eBay inquires with UPS. These are 2 lb and 3 lb shipments in 4 x 4 x 48 or 5 x 5 x 48 or triangular 4 x 6 x 38 boxes, these box sizes do not exceed any thresholds for UPS extra charges that I can find. This doesn't happen with my UPS shipments purchased through Amazon Buy Ship or Pirate Ship, just with eBay so as of today I will longer print the labels on eBay until this is corrected, not holding my breath...

Systematic erroneous overcharges by UPS through eBay labels?

Just went back and looked at all my labels from Jan 1...seems every now and then my club shipment would get hit with that extra $12.75 for no reason.  Whether I shipped a driver or a wedge...different box size, didn't matter.  Something needs to be figured out.  I thought maybe it was something to do with USPS April 3rd deadline but it's at least been happening to me since Jan 1.  On my end I should've done a better job scrutinizing these labels.  The minute you take something for granted is when you get screwed.  This sucks. At least with USPS you know upfront about the fee.  With UPS it's willy nilly.  Hello EBAY...anybody home?

They did the same thing to me in the past 2 weeks with raw wood shafts.

46x4x4 boxes 2lb's  Ebay quoted something around the 10-11 dollar mark (Which Seemed a little Low)

Was charged 21.45 for BOTH items & they went to different states.

I am done with UPS and their fraud.

Dimensional weight takes precedence over actual weight.  It's usually in the fine print.   I recommend USPS.  The PO is upfront and more transparent about all charges.

Stop buying UPS/FedEx labels through ebay.  With ebay in the middle there is always a problem and one that you can then not deal directly with the carrier to correct.  It has always been this way.  USPS works great, but any other carrier there often is a problem with no clear protocol to resolve it easily, if ebay is involved.

Either use your own account, if you can get some good discounts, or open a free PirateShip account, which will import directly from ebay and also update the tracking to the order.

Systematic erroneous overcharges by UPS through eBay labels?

Don't hold your breathe, -------------- When I first started using eBay's UPS Labels, at the time of billing they were always spot ON, Then I started noticing, 10 to 13 dollar increases for a short while at the time on billing, and Now there up to 15 to 18 dollars more, it's a big mystery, because I'm pretty sure I can still use a tape measure and a scale.---------------------------------------- There are a lot of experts out there who are saying there are dimensional surcharges, well if I measure & weight a package correctly, then where does the dimensional surcharge come from, that's confusing me, what I'm saying is if all is done correctly. Why is it not factored in at point that I purchase my label, say I got a 6"x6"x48" package that weighs 11lbs. Why can't I get an up front price on that? What could possibly change the price at billing for it to go up, if it is measured and weighed correctly?

@maccnc11  If you use your own account for UPS/FedEx, or for even better rate with a free PirateShip account, the correct cost will be shown and charged up front for dimensional weights or any other surcharges, if you supply the correct information to begin with.  This is not always the cast the ebay calculator.

I feel your PAIN,

the first 8 shipments that I made that were spot on at billing time, I typically use a 6x6x48 commercial box, My latest 10 shipments have ranged anywhere from 13 to 18 Dollars more at billing time,  Well I asked myself what changed, let me tell you and it's not some Cheesy 1/8 or 1/4" over box , I started dropping off at the UPS Store, I contacted eBay and asked for a shipping specialist and she told me that I was dropping off boxes that had 0 weight and 0 dimensions, I said what are you talking about, every box I've ever shipped has the Weight and Dimensions Clearly printed on the Label, My theory is when dropped off at a UPS Store verses UPS Depot, they intentionally Zero the label data so they can measure and weigh so they can get a Service Charge, this is no surprise these days, because everything you go to do is either A Gag, Gimmick, Con or Scam,   A quick check of the web revealed that the UPS Store is a sub sid of United Parcel Service "A Franchise", with pretty hefty handling fees, I'll say, because the last time I dropped off there a 20 dollar eBay label turned into a 38 dollar one at the time of billing.

Your issue is with the PGA.  They need to start allowing moving parts on clubs.  Then the shaft would not have to be a single section and subject to over size fees in shipping.
