I sold an item a little over 30 days ago, and it was going to a apo, and the tracking still say's in transit, so of course the guy opened a case. I sent it and the post office sent it on to the next location. Will ebay side with the buyer and refund him? It was over $200 and I really just do not have that money laying around and now my money from another sale is on hold
It was sold on Jul 6, 2021 and today is the 10th, for me that is past the 30 day

The time allowed to open a case is 30 days after the estimated delivery date.

You may want to see if you can intercept the package and have it returned to you. It will cost about $15.00, but may be worth it. What does the tacking show? Any movement in the last 10 days? If not, eBay will consider it lost.
You can also open a Help report on the USPS website to see if they can find it, then a missing mail report and file an insurance claim if it's lost.

@eviljamie13 In normal times eBay extends an INR claim up to 4 days if the Seller contacts them and requests it. Do that on the last day of the claim process before it ends. You also need to file a Missing mail piece with USPS, during Covid I had to do this several times to get packages moving. A number of them wound up being delivered 2 days after the claim was filed.
Last year they were extending INR claims by 10 days if memory serves ... maybe they make special allowances for APO addresses ... it wouldn't hurt to ask.

@eviljamie13 Does your eBay tracking state that about being delivered to a "military or diplomatic post office"? If USPS no longer has it then that should help you when talking with eBay. When USPS "attempts" delivery but a customer is not home eBay views the "attempted" delivery the same as a delivered item.
You might consider posting this on tomorrow (Wed) Weekly Discussion with eBay ... its under the Community Info tab above. It opens at 4 PM Eastern time and lasts one hour.

Used to be when the item showed delivered to the military, it was considered delivered.....don't know if that still holds.
I do remember a case where it showed that, but buyer claimed not delivered, seller called the commander at his base.......and the buyer immediately closed the case.

I recommend you use this as a learning experience and remove APO / FPO from your shipping locations.

I do and had it on there but ebay likes to just let anyone buy stuff.

That was me!
My father was in the military. He NEVER wanted to have his commander talk directly to him for any reason.
In my case, the serviceman was claiming he didn't receive the package. I called the military base he was stationed at, talked to the mail room, who told me that the unit's CO delivered mail directly to the servicemen.
The CO contacted me and I was able to describe the very distinct neon PINK bubble envie. The CO remembered the packaging, serviceman actually got a pretty good ribbing from the CO and his fellow bunkies.
When I told the CO that the serviceman was claiming he didn't receive the package, the CO told me he would rectify the situation (his exact words). I guess he rectified it. The serviceman closed the INR within hours.
Take what you need to from this, but most likely the serviceman got his package. Military doesn't lose mail once it's been passed to them and they take the moralness of their people seriously!

@dhbookds Hmmm, not to doubt that Seller's story but I suspect Base Commanders seldom take direct calls from civilians ... but I could see where their Adjutant might field the call, relay the message and get the same result ...

@toysaver While that is surely advice the OP can consider I've sold and shipped to a number of APO addresses without issue. It sounds like the issue may not be the base but USPS ...
