Standard envelope shipping

I sent out 8 separate standard envelopes at the same time all with a single card in them and when I checked today only 2 are showing they are in the system being tracked and the others are still just saying tracking number provided. Is this just an error?

Re: Standard envelope shipping

You can track them here to see if more info shows up:

https://parcelsapp.com/en

ESE is handled with metered mail, which means it's supposed to get scanned as it passes through sorting machinery at USPS facilities. Metered mail is never hand scanned - those bar codes can't be read by the hand scanners. The "delivery" scan will happen at the sorting facility closest to the buyer so the actual delivery may not be until a couple days later.

It's not uncommon to hear reports about the lack of ESE scans. The fact that some of that batch show scans is a positive sign. Wait to see what happens. Unless buyers are complaining I wouldn't worry just yet.

Ditto that.  Until a buyer contacts you regarding not receiving a shipment, hang tight.

No need to worry, until a buyer gives you reasons to worry.

Re: Standard envelope shipping

I hope you are not sending out the card in a plastic holder. Those plastic holders are too thick for a standard envelope. Envelope must be under 1/4 inch thickness and also bendable per USPS standard envelope mailing.

Just toploader and team bag. Never had any issues before. Plus everyone says to use a toploader.

If you look on one of your regular bills like electric, credit card, etc there is a simplistic bar code either above or below YOUR address.  THAT is "Metered Mail".  The last scan it will get is most likely one bulk mail center BEFORE your local Post Office unless yours is a big one with a sorting machine (which most are NOT).  You could ask your local Post Office if they know what the closest upstream bulk mail center is that has a sorting machine ... they may or may not know.

So this is NOT a door to door tracking system but is suited for most card sales under $ 20 from what I've read.   If I sold cards and some were valuable I would put them in a small box insured for their value ...

Re: Standard envelope shipping

I got my first return last week..."returned for additional postage $4.41". It wasn't bendable enough for the state of Montana....It was returned from Montana. Never had anything returned before. It made it through the San Francisco USPS...it had a cancellation on it.

Top loaders can sometimes cause issues. If @onefootflipper doesn't mind, I'm going to post his advice:

Re: Standard envelope shipping

I have explained this so many times to so many sellers that I eventually made a video about it.
