Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

Yesterday, I  just got my first shipping-adjustment message from eBay (no email, just the message on their website):

Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

Hi MOLLYMARY,
UPS has some cost adjustments on your shipping labels. We attempted to charge or credit your account based on whether you underpaid or overpaid.
Learn more about preventing label cost adjustments

1.  This was for a UPS package that I weighed on my scale, checked that weight by weighing it on another scale, and then went to The UPS store where they weighed the package and then they gave me a Drop-Off Package Receipt  that confirmed weight a fourth time--this time in writing.   The package tracking continued to its destination with no change in the weight information, and got delivered.

2. Now 7 days after the delivery, i get the silly message from eBay (not an email, just a message):

Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

see cost breakdown [box]
4.  Click on "see cost breakdown" box to now understand what you were charged for:
  • Address correction
    $5.00
  • Postage
    $20.20
  • Total
    $25.20

5.  At the top of 3 you could "review" what shipping and cost details are by pressing "review"--then you would see:

Services added after calculating shipping

You could be charged for services added after calculating shipping like Saturday delivery, address correction (rerouting package), future day pick-up, or on-call pick-up (if the sender does not have an account with UPS or FedEx).

Smart ship tip: Be aware of services that cost extra and double check address details

6. So I now know that they charged me $5.00 for an address correction, that I had nothing to do with, and I guess UPS changed the billing weight to account for the $5.00 charge.

I hope this helps someone!

Re: Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

Yeah I spent about 20 minutes waiting for the online chat w/ customer service, they said they would file a dispute with Fed Ex on these.

Fingers crossed. I'll update if it actually happens.

here's the highlights of the chat -

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention."

"After reviewing, I can see that there is a potential mischarge by FedEx."

"Please don't worry, I have filed a dispute against these charges, directly with Fedex on your behalf."

...

"No, you will receive an update, regarding the refund, within a maximum of 3-5 business days."

Re: Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

Now another week later I finally see this on the incorrectly adjusted shipping amounts -

"Due to a FedEx invoicing issue, some sellers were incorrectly charged for FedEx label adjustments. We apologize for the inconvenience, and eBay will refund these amounts within the next 5 business days."

Which means another week or two before it gets fixed?

Re: Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

They did the same thing to me.  I use a USPS postal scale.   This is nothing short of theft.

Re: Some of your shipping labels have adjustments

we are also having severe issues with this problem , we have been on ebay for over 25 years and have 2 accounts , we have sent out these items for decades in the same shipping boxes and packaging as we have from the start , in the last 2 months every morning we wake up to another message "  SOME  OF YOUR SHIPPING LABELS HAVE ADJUSTMENTS

we then get back on the phone with eBay and  waste hours requesting a supervisor as the regular reps just talk in circles and then tell us exactly what we expressed to them ten minutes ago in our explanation  , they are not even listening to us it would appear , then after getting a supervisor and explaining that we ask the ups store rep to measure and weigh the package before scanning it , just to stop this cycle of price gouging , they say that we are doing all that we can possibly do to prevent this cycle of problems that we haven't seen in over 25 years of being on eBay and never ever having a single negative feedback , we are loyal eBay sellers but our trust is wearing thin , i have asked that my ups account manager call me to help end this issue , one item was an art print in a cardboard tube , shipping was $ 11.86 ,  with 4.35 for insurance , total 16.46 ,  then we were told that the cost was being up graded to 37.16    , then 20.70 was charged automatically , we got on the phone and spent 4.5 hours to attempt to get a refund or pull our listings until this severe issue was handled , we will now have to stop offering a shipping discount due to the mayhem , this on top of  the disastrous new message center  that wastes so much time , with links that no longer work causing us to waste our time to figure out what they did to another program that worked fine , we can only send 5 pics instead of 10 and we now have to send double the messages to complete our sales
