So I sold an expensive item about a month and a half ago to a customer with an address that is clearly within the US48. A month and a half later the buyer opens a case claiming the item is not working (which it absolutely was). I accept the return and the return tracking number now shows it is coming from half-way across the world (an address I did not ship to). It appears to be coming from near Russia. The buyers name on file also appears to be Russian as well (a third party reshipper?).
I feel like I am about to be scammed. Considering that the item is not even coming anywhere near from the original location I shipped it to am I obligated to even refund the person? If I bring this up with eBay do I have any leg to stand on? What is ebays policy on people returning items which have clearly shifted hands so to speak from third party resellers?

I also found this with a quick google search. Apparently this guy is huge scammer with a very long reputation. It is the exact same address listed as this page (also check the very long comments section). He apparently keeps changing his name as well.

Everyone using a particular reshipper will have their own name --
but will all share the same street address (plus a suite-like number).
