Slow shipping even with Priority Mail

I first put in an offer on an item last Saturday, 7/11. It was declined the next day ($10.50 offer on $12.00 item). So I went ahead and paid for it after the declined offer expired. No big deal. But no communication from seller at this point.

Asked for tracking #. Got a simple "yeah." At least the buyer responded on Tuesday 7/14. Priority Mail shipping is $8 or so and item is in next state.

Buyer did put it in system but it's been sitting in "USPS awaiting item" since 7/15. Does this mean the seller has created a label and hasn't shippped it yet, or is the USPS letting the package sit there? To be fair to the buyer at least there's a tracking #. I'd think it would have started to move in the system even if it's not here yet.

It took a week for an item to reach me that was less than 100 miles away. And 5 days for an item in the next city over.  The one closest waited acceptance for 4 days and then on the 5th day it got delivered but the tracking has not updated at all.  The other one got seventeen scans as it traveled all over the place until it was finally delivered.  Since the pandemic has caused a major backup in mail delivery I would give it a week to arrive. If it doesn't get delivered you're covered.

ok that makes sense. I'm just glad the seller sent a tracking #, but my fear is he never sent it but just created the label so far. Once I see it start to move, even if it is slow, I will feel relieved.

You mentioned in your first post shipping was going to be by Priority Mail but the tracking number shown is for First Class Package.

You paid for Priority but got First Class instead.

Unfortunately that is not uncommon here on good ole eBay.

The seller sent you a number that is not going anywhere, has not been shipped. All tracking states is that the seller 'purchased' the label; but they very well could have purchased that tracking number/label for you or 100 like you. It's not a USPS thing; it's a 'seller' thing.

I asked him to follow up with it to clarify but no response. He is not good with communication. Worst comes to worst, I can file an INR within 30 days after the last expected delivery date (7/22). So I can file the INR before 8/22. Is that right?

THANK YOU for following up!

Is there a way to resolve it? If I don't get it, I will INR it. Or can I ding him for negative feedback if I get it, or neutral.

I assume if I INR it I won't be able to leave feedback either way, but that would be fine as I get my $ back.

There is no eBay requirement that a seller use tracking, nor that he correspond with the buyer.

Due to certain limitations everywhere due to the Covid 19 virus, shipping is quite often delayed.

There is no need or reason to feel obligated to track your purchase and, for some people, it causes un-needed stress.  You, the buyer, have the Money Back Guarantee if/when you do not receive your purchase within a few days past its last estimated delivery date.  Have you read it?

I disagree with that statement. I want to know when my item is going to be delivered. I want to know when it is out for delivery so that I can keep an eye out for whichever carrier that's delivering it.

Too many items disappear off of porches and out of mailboxes. I rather avoid that major hassle.

My UPS driver(s) are like ninjas. I am sitting with my back to a window no more than 6' from my front door and I don't hear them quietly place a package in front of my door or on the bench that backs right up to the window. I only know delivery has been made when I get the email from UPS stating delivery has been made.

At least FedEx will give a single knock on the door when they drop off a package letting me know they are/were here.

Don't get me started on USPS. Those lazy slugs cant even be bothered to close the mailbox door leaving whatever mail/packages in clear site of anyone driving/riding down the street. That is a daily occurrence.

Being a small seller I also track every package I ship. I want to know when it got delivered.

Is it coming from China in an express bundle of packages for many other sellers, and then that First-Class label will be affixed to your package?

That's why the due date is so far out, and why your label has not move yet -- it's waiting for its package to arrive, is it Walton or Hebron?

With Covid shipping at all providers has been a nightmare this year. I just had a First Class letter take 35 days to go 70 miles. Had another US shipment one state over arrive in 11 days, prob is it actually went to Taiwan 1st

I sent the seller a question asking him to clarify why it was shipped first class even if I paid for the item on Priority.

I found out I actually bought the item Sunday 7/12, not Tuesday 7/14. Expected receive date is 7/21, Tuesday. So 5-7 business days with Priority/First Class ASSUMING he shipped it and it's just stuck in the system. If he hasn't even shipped it based on what you guys said, I will file an INR first, wait to get my $.

If I get my $ back after doing an INR (30-day window) I am not sure if I should give him neg feedback or not though. I don't want to burn bridges in eBay. The problem is the first step of the INR requires me to contact him yet again but if he doesn't respond eBay has to have me wait another 3 days, right?
