Slightly off weight on shipping label. Should I be worried?

I’m shipping a trading card, but I wasn’t sure how much it weighed and don’t have a scale available to me. I asked a friend who also sells and ships cards, and he said he marked his as about 5 oz., which is what I marked mine at, but it’s probably about 2 oz. Should I be worried?

@billybob1981 Nothing to worry about as you over estimated the weight. Had you done the reverse and listed as 2 oz rather than 5 oz then you may have an issue. Best of luck to you....

Now I am not too sure what shipping service you are using OP, so for the sake of clarity, I will assume its USPS.

You also have to remember that when they weigh the item, that they weigh the shipping box too. So it may weigh up to 0.5 ounces. So I would not worry.

If you do sell a lot of cards, I would utilize a scale. For the best pricing for one I would go through Amazon Business as they have really great pricing on items.

If you plan on shipping on a regular basis it never hurts to have a reliable scale on hand. They can be picked up at any stationary store or store sells kitchen items. Call it the cost of doing business. Prices vary but better safe than sorry. Save you having orders being marked return to sender postage due and be delayed. As noted always best to round up and never down. If you have odd sized items you can use a box with a slot to hold. Remember to zero out before adding your parcel.

Billy Bob, unless you shipped the world's biggest trading card, then including the envelope, the only thing you have to worry about is having wasted any extra money you spent for the extra, unneeded four or five ounces.

It's being shipped in a case, and hopefully in some kind of padded packaging, not an envelope.
