Found out today on a dispute, the signature is again a PO worker - not the Buyer.
PO is still not collecting signatures, especially in certain parts of the US, where Delta has ramped up.
So why bother? I called the PO today where this was considered last scan before delivery. Worker I spoke with says at their discretion.
This was to an apartment building. They leave parcels atop a mailbox station.

Anyone can sign deliver and sign a different name then say "I never signed for my package"
Well, yes. Signature Confirmation doesn't require that the addressee sign for the package. It only needs to be an adult at that address.

It's an extra-charge service, regardless of whether you buy it on-line or purchase it over the counter as part of the retail postage. Not sure what you mean by their not asking if you agree to it...? They're not going to add that to your shipment over the counter unless you request it.

carrier permission to digitally sign for it.
That's not enforceable, and there's no mechanism for your demand to be conveyed down the line to the carrier at the other end. What they might suggest to you instead is that you purchase a Restricted Delivery confirmation option that requires the addressee (and no one else) to sign for it. I would think that will block the carrier from doing his own signature in place of the addressee. (If it doesn't, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of the "Restricted" part.)

I was more focused on this part: "Thanks for listening to a real seller on eBay!"

in addition to the forgery, they are committing fraud in that they collected funds for a specific service and they turn around and deny the purchaser the value of that service with the forgery.

all good advice, but I would definitely insure for actual value today with how often things are going missing. Insurance protects your item against damage or loss.

Yes they regularly do not bring packages to be signed for delivering to a mailbox or apt like you had. If they are sent to a PO BOX address they put the card in the box and then make you bring the card up to sign. I would think the SIG will still protect you in the case though, let us know please.

Well yes, and then They are responsible if the seller has any problems correct?

Oh GEEZ, I am really having a hard time hearing this kind of solution on here.

True, we are still signing for deliveries, so are FedEx and UPS. However, leaving it on top of a gang box should not be done EXCEPT if that is specified at the location. In some places, you can't get to the units and the building doesn't provide parcel lockers. In that case, the tenants should take the matter up with the owners and managers.
In this situation with a package with a signature required the carrier should go to the door and ask if they will take delivery then sign for it. If no one answers the door a notice should be left and the item returned to the Post Office for pick-up.

When Ebay see’sthat te package has been delivered and sign it should be a DONE DEAL. IF postal service worker signs, it still should be a DONE DEAL. ALSO, CC companies chargebacks, GOOD LUCK, should be a DONE deal.

Wondered where this thread went - thought they poofed it. Lol
Original claim, we won the INR as we had tracking and signature. Buyer has appealed. We are awaiting e-Bay's decision on buyer appeal.

Appealed on what basis? He's not going to win an appeal unless he's got something new to bring to the table. Hopefully, if eBay does waver on their original decision, it will only be to give the guy a courtesy refund out of their own pocket and not claw it back out of yours.

Hi
i read your post. I bought an item and returned it to seller at his request beyond his 14 day return window. I’m good faith I sent it back but requested my money as the item was out of my possession. He wouldn’t refund my money. Item is $2000. I then put in a request to eBay for a refund but they denied it saying it was beyond the 30 days. The seller sent me the label but never told me I had to open a claim with eBay. I have a PO Box. The seller then claimed he sent the item back to me with tracking and signature confirmation. I never received it!!!! A postal employee signed for it. Either an employee stole it, it truly got lost or misplaced in another box and never returned. The post office says what the employee did was not right signing their name to my package that required signature confirmation. The employee should have left a card in my box for pick up and then have me sign. It is a felony what the employee did. eBay is no help and I’m into this for 2k. I think seller scammed me to get item back and not issue a refund. I think he put a something else of no value to say he sent it with tracking. Of note the package was not insured. Your thoughts please? You write you don’t need signature confirmation for a PO Box but look at my situation. It’s fraud what The employee did. Even an attorney says so. Thanks
